That bon fire reminds me of an experience a few years ago.  We have a burn hole about 12 feet wide, 40 feet long and eight feet deep.  Following a storm we had the hole full and mounded over ten feet high.  It was packed so hard I could drive the tractor on the brush to pile it higher.

Needing to burn it down to make room for more I threw abut ten gallons of diesel fuel on it, but being a good Boy Scout I couldn't get a good burn.  I then threw on about two gallons of gasoline and realized I was out of matches.

To fill the time I'm spending walking to the shed to get burn start items let me mention that it was a day like today - 85 degrees and 100% humidity.  I rolled an old feed sack around a lath soaked in diesel, lit it, and threw it at the pile ... from about fifty feet away I threw it ... the explosion was unbelievable.  It appears that diesel fumes settle low, and the gas was well evaporated in amongst the brush ...

Wow!

The good thing is that two hours later we were pushing brush in the completely empty hole  ;)
If I appear taller than other men it is because I am standing on the shoulders of others.

How do you start a bonfire?

With a jetcar of course.   ;D ;D ;D

link

Dunno how much fuel they used but looked pretty neat

Woo!  It would be a bad thing to start that car in the garage.   ;D

Subject: Need any more proof?

Need any more proof that our value system is fully out of control?

Ed McMahon died. He was a great entertainer, but prior to his stage accomplishments he was a distinguished Marine Corps fighter pilot in WWII earning six Air Medals and attaining the rank of Colonel. He was discharged in 1946 and was later promoted to the rank of Brigadier General in the CA Air National Guard.

Farrah Fawcett died after a long career in Hollywood as an actress.  After she was diagnosed with cancer, she became an activist for cancer treatment and devoted her last remaining years encouraging people to seek treatment. She documented her plight on film and used it to encourage others to stay positive and upbeat despite their diagnosis and suffering.

Michael Jackson died. He was perhaps one of the greatest singers of modern time. He will also be remembered for his eccentric
lifestyle that included sleeping with a chimpanzee, living in a carnival-like atmosphere at Neverland, his fascination with Peter Pan,
and his numerous masks and costumes. He also admitted to finding pleasure sleeping with young boys and paying out millions of dollars in settlements to the families of these boys despite being acquitted by a court on one allegation of sexual molestation.

QUESTION - Which of the above did the House of Representatives declare a moment of silence for today?
(Hint - It wasn't the first two.)

QUESTION - Which of the above's family received a personal note of condolence from President Obama?
(Hint - It wasn't the first two.)

Action by the House and the President is completely  understandable since they have a common bond in their thinking.
Namely, All of these people manage to "steal" other people's money under false pretenses.
In Jackson's case, he managed to go 400 Million in debt, with no intention of ever paying it back.
This is the real reason he is held in extreme esteem by the House and the President.
He is their kind of guy.

"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

For the Patriots of this country, the Constitution is second only to the Bible for most. For those who love this country, but do not share my personal beliefs, it is their Bible. To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison

And here I complimented you on what a fine looking wife you had. I may be liberal compared to present company, but only compared to present company. I am a libertarian and a Christian, and my only defense of child molestors is to suggest that the firing squad use something larger than .22.
