Mosin Nagant Sport
« on: July 27, 2008, 05:02:03 PM »
Reid Coffield has done a series in "Shotgun News" where he sporterizes a 91-30 Mosin Nagant. I have several MNs in the safe with mismatched numbers so I decided to try a conversion myself. I'm not a gunsmith and I don't have the knowledge, skill, or even the tools that Mr. Coffield has, but there are some things that I could do. Cut down the barrel, install an adjustable trigger, install after market scope mount and bolt handle, and refinish and restock. It took about three weeks, working on it after work and on weekends, but I think the results came out okay. Tell me what you think.

Sweet!  I like the finish on the stock.  I don't like the look of those shiney plastic looking poly finishes.

Fine job CJS3.
If I may,I'd like to suggest a Limbsaver Recoil Pad.
I can also recommend their Highly effective Barrel De-Resonators.

I hope you get out and enjoy her when she's finished.

Jim-

Could you please elaborate on your experience with the de-resonators....... I was looking to buy one, but wasn't really sure about the effectiveness and what type of performance increase you can get out of them. Thanks.

Man, that looks just like my sporterized Argentine Mauser in 7.65mm, and yes it kicks a**, and yes it kicks like a mule.

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
