Man Allegedly Stabs Friend Over Buying Wrong Beer Brand

Posted: Aug 1, 2008 11:41 AM EDT

MOULTON, Ala. - A north Alabama man has been accused of stabbing a friend for returning from a store with the wrong brand of beer.

The Lawrence County Sheriff's Department charged 64-year-old Grady "Skip" Wilburn Dollar with first-degree assault for allegedly stabbing Mickey Joe Hill.

Lawrence County Sheriff Gene Marshall said the 37-year-old Hill was in good condition at Huntsville Hospital after being stabbed at Dollar's rural Lawrence County home. The sheriff said Thursday that Dollar had given Hill money to buy the beer, but Hill got the wrong kind.

Dollar was released from jail on $5,000 bail.

Alabama man stabbed in fuss over cheap beer
1 day ago

MOULTON, Ala. (AP) — A dispute over cheap beer left one man in the hospital with stab wounds and another man charged with assault, authorities said Friday.

Grady "Skip" Wilburn Dollar, 64, was accused of stabbing Mickey Joe Hill, 37, during a dispute early Thursday, said Sgt. Mark Richard of the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department.

Richard said the two men had been drinking together when Dollar gave Hill $10 and told him to go to the store for more. Richard said Hill brought back only four cans of Natural Light, a low-cost brand, and Dollar got mad that he didn't get more for his money.

"He said, 'For $10 you could have gotten a half case,'" said Richard. "Four cans of Natural Light only cost $3 or $4."

The victim then asked for one of the four beers and pushed the older man when he refused to hand one over, the investigator said.

"Then the suspect went to the kitchen, got a big butcher knife and came back and stabbed him," Richard said.

Hill remained hospitalized with a wound to the lower abdomen but was expected to recover fully since the blade missed all major organs.

Dollar was free on $5,000 bond. Richard said records did not reflect that he had hired an attorney, and there was no telephone listing in Dollar's name.

That's as good as the famous dust up that the one and only Johnny Paycheck got in. From one of his obits:

At Christmas 1985, he was arrested after a bar room fight, during which he shot a man in the head, reportedly during an argument about the merits of turtle and deer meat.

That's really sad, Some people take beer WAY too seriously.

Something took it to that level,..

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
