Teaching the Holocaust
« on: August 03, 2008, 01:25:24 PM »

WOW!!!  This thing just doesn't go away!  I first saw it about a year ago and replied to it then, and it has resurfaced often enough to warrant a repeat of my earlier statement which, unlike this piece of propaganda, is based in fact.  Please, let's not create the atmosphere for another holocaust.

Everyone in the world is an atheist to someone!  No one believes in all the Gods that are out there.  I'm not much on any of the "organized" ones, but who among us believes in Jehovah & Jesus & Allah & Zeus & Tor & Ra The Sun God & Buddha & Confucius & my Great Great Uncle Capt. Burton C. Mossman all at the same time? So sit back, Fellow Atheists, and dig the word.

The following was sent to Marilyn Berlfein some time ago - and I guess needs repeating.

You know me - I always told you that the NEXT time I'd be the first one to sew on a Star of David (or a cross or a question mark or a watermelon - depending on who they're after this time).  Well, I'm about to go out and look for a crescent moon of Islam to sew on.  Let me explain.

You know I've lived in England for a lot of years - have an English daughter and two great English grandsons.  THE UK HAS NOT STOPPED TEACHING ABOUT THE HOLOCAUST!!!!!!!!!!

There was one misguided history department at a school in the North that suspended study, and removed questions of the subject, from their GCSEs - which are like our SATs.  I think there was another school that pulled questions on the Crusades from their Key Stage
3 exams - early testing of 11 to 14 year-old students - until they could look at the curriculum for balance.

The holocaust is still being taught in UK schools today.

We were living in England on 9/11/91.  I don't know how the corporate media, in this country, covered what was going on around the World that day, but on BBC that night, I saw A MILLION IRANIANS, with candles in their hands, take to the streets of Tehran in sympathy with the peoples of the USA.  I'll leave it to your own political beliefs to judge how that goodwill may have been squandered by this administration, since then, and for what reasons, but hatred is abroad in the land - and people are, once again, turning a blind eye.

That little turd who is the mouthpiece for the true leaders in Iran - the Ayatollahs - would have been booted out or silenced, by more moderate neighbours, a long time ago if Bush had not made him a rock-star by treating him as an equal World leader.  Again, you will have to look to your own political standards to determine if there might have been another motive for elevating him and his beliefs.  But Ahmadinejad does not represent the Iranian people.  He's a front for the fundamentalists.

And the Islamic fundamentalist terrorists who attacked the World Trade Center do not represent those who choose Islam as a path to try to understand where we come from and where are we going next, any more than Tim McVeigh represented the majority of Christians.

Do I fear the followers of Bin Laden?  You bet your ass!  But no more than I fear religious fundamentalists of any persuasion, or the terrorism being spread among the American people by propagandist bull-shit like this thing on UK schools.  I don't care what anyone's private belief system is as long as they keep it the f..k out of my civil life.  Our Founding Fathers took a canary down into the mine with them in
1776.  The canary died this week (I must have written this shortly after the first debate) when the Republican Candidates were asked religious, Christian, litmus-test questions as qualification for holding public office in this land.

The Old Testament of Christians and Jews is no less violent than the Koran.  Do we kill children who sass their parents?  Do we stone to death those who eat shrimp or wear clothing of mixed fabrics?  No, but I'll guarantee there are those among us who would have it so.  I can think of only two of the Commandments that are also forbidden by law - killing and thievery. The balance of our legal system comes from English Common Law.  These laws began their formation in the sixth century, but Christianity did not reach the shores of the Isle until the eighth.  So I guess even the Pagan Druids were capable of morality and justice, since it was under two-hundred years of their watch that the laws we live by today were taking shape.

Let's not be manipulated by propaganda into a fear and hatred of the followers of a religion.  Let's look to our own house - our own country - to make sure that reason and fairness are the rule.  I bemoan the fact that two departments of two schools in the UK altered text and testing for reasons of political correctness, but what of schools in this country who cave-in to not teaching Evolution?  The first is an act of cowardice that saddens me, but the later is an attack of religious dominance on my freedoms - and scares the shit out of me.

So after you pass on the truth to those on your mailing list, pass the needle and thread.  My Momma didn't raise no cowards.

Later,

Bill

It is a matter of history that when Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces, General Dwight Eisenhower, found the victims of the death camps, he ordered all possible photographs to be taken, and for the German people from surrounding villages to be ushered through the camps and even made to bury the dead.

He did this because he said in words to this effect: "Get it all on record now - get the films - get the witnesses - because somewhere down the track of history some b*stard will get up and say that this never happened !"

"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing" Edmund Burke

This week, some schools in the UK removed The Holocaust from its school curriculum because it 'offended' the Muslim population which claims it never occurred.

This is a frightening portent of the fear that is gripping the world and how easily each country is giving in to it.

It is now more than 60 years after the Second World War in Europe ended.

This e-mail is being  sent as a memorial chain, in memory of the Six million Jews,
20 million Russians, 10 million Christians and 1,900 Catholic priests who were murdered, massacred, raped, burned, starved and humiliated with the German and Russian peoples looking the other way! Now, more than ever, with Iran , among others, claiming the Holocaust to be 'a myth,' it is imperative to make sure the world never forgets.
