So Glock is doing what everyone else did three years ago

And is coming out with a single stack 9mm.

Not really seeing the point of this, other than to sell more stuff to people who already own a Glock. At $580, it's $100+ more than an LC9s or a Shield, and all you're getting is "Glock" in return.
I can't understand people who think banning guns makes them safer. They must also believe that banning books makes them smarter.

A couple of thoughts along that line for those not part of the ardent Glock-or-nothing base.

I don't know what Glock's profit margins are, but if they do want a lower priced, "entry" Glock this could be it.  Claim that because it's smaller they can price it more in-line with competition.   No pressure to reduce prices on the other models as this isn't a "real" gun, just an entry level one for people to try out before they trade up to the big boys.   (I'm not thinking that way, but it could be a way to subtly spin it.)

Regardless of price, many first time buyers are going to trust the Glock name, because they've heard it so much.   I bet many non-hobbyists have never heard of Springfield Armory, they think Ruger makes SA revolvers and shotguns,  and that S&W only makes revolvers.

It's a dumb idea if you ask me.
At $650 Glock is less expensive than all but the lowest end of the 1911 market with double the rounds in nearly any caliber any one could want .

ROFLMAO   ;D

What I meant is that Glock should stick with the thing that makes them special instead of jumping on the bandwagon.

I absolutely agree with AlfSuave. Glock could have done this many years ago and did not. Even though everyone was begging them for it. I just hope they get it right and does not tarnish the name of Glock. All the others mentioned, all had recalls with issues. Hoping Glock isn't cursed with the same fate. We all saw that the Gen 4's had issues at first along with the G42 in .380 (Which I still have no idea why in the heck anyone would want a Glock in .380?) Hope the single stack works. I will stick with my G30SF in .45 ACP.

My g42 does exactly what its supposed to do. It provides me with a small frame single stack semi auto that works. Yes some people had problems with them at first, but honestly just about every new release seems to have problems now. Thankfully I didn't have any problems. It seems the manufacturers use the consumer as R&D rather than debug a system prior to release. Will I buy a g43? Absolutely. It is what I wanted to begin with, but I knew that the 42 would be a hand me down when the 9mm arrived.

The 42 handles better in the hand, and patterns more consistently than my p238 did. This was my requirements for a small pocket concealable backup gun. I fully expect the 43 will behave the same way. We shall see, my order has been placed.
"The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."
