This forum could become illegal!

I am sure many of you have heard this already but just trying to spread the word.  Seems as if the executive branch is at it again:

Quote
In their current form, the ITAR do not (as a rule) regulate technical data that are in what the regulations call the “public domain.” Essentially, this means data “which is published and which is generally accessible or available to the public” through a variety of specified means. These include “at libraries open to the public or from which the public can obtain documents.” Many have read this provision to include material that is posted on publicly available websites, since most public libraries these days make Internet access available to their patrons.

The ITAR, however, were originally promulgated in the days before the Internet. Some State Department officials now insist that anything published online in a generally-accessible location has essentially been “exported,” as it would be accessible to foreign nationals both in the U.S. and overseas.

With the new proposal published on June 3, the State Department claims to be “clarifying” the rules concerning “technical data” posted online or otherwise “released” into the “public domain.” To the contrary, however, the proposal would institute a massive new prior restraint on free speech. This is because all such releases would require the “authorization” of the government before they occurred. The cumbersome and time-consuming process of obtaining such authorizations, moreover, would make online communication about certain technical aspects of firearms and ammunition essentially impossible.

Penalties for violations are severe and for each violation could include up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $1 million. Civil penalties can also be assessed. Each unauthorized “export,” including to subsequent countries or foreign nationals, is also treated as a separate violation.

Gunsmiths, manufacturers, reloaders, and do-it-yourselfers could all find themselves muzzled under the rule and unable to distribute or obtain the information they rely on to conduct these activities. Prior restraints of the sort contemplated by this regulation are among the most disfavored regulations of speech under First Amendment case law.

Meanwhile, under the rules for our masters;

Chinese Hackers Suspected Of US Govt Data Breach

A Chinese embassy spokesman hits back at claims that a foreign entity or government is believed to be behind the hacking attack.

The White House says there is "no conclusion" on who was behind a hacking attack that may have compromised data on four million current and former US government employees.

The data breach involved the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), the human resources department for the federal government that handles security clearances and employee records.

A law enforcement official said a foreign entity or government was believed to be behind the breach, but would neither confirm nor deny media reports that China was the prime suspect.

White House spokesman Josh Earnest said on Friday there was "no conclusion" on who was behind the breach.

A spokesman for China's Foreign Ministry said: "We've seen a lot of similar reports and similar comments recently. But are they scientific?

Russians Hacked White House Via State Department, Claims Report

Russian hackers managed to breach White House security, accessing non-classified but sensitive information, including the president’s non-public schedule, according to a report from CNN. Speaking with officials with knowledge of the attack, investigators including the FBI, Secret Service and US intelligence agencies have found “tell-tale codes” and “markers” that pointed to Russian operators, though no more evidence was forthcoming.

The White House originally notices suspicious activity on its network back in October 2014. To get to the White House, the hackers first breached systems at the State Department and then used typical techniques of state-sponsored attackers. They included spear phishing, where malicious yet legitimate-looking emails were sent to targets, ostensibly from State Department employees. When the files were opened, malware was launched at the victim’s PC. The hackers managed to acquire persistence on the State Department network and may still be there, according to the CNN’s sources.

This is just another poorly disguised attempt at Govt control of information.
We may all wind up on the darknet.

I have had military helicopters flying over my house since I joined this forum. My wife said I was paranoid until one made a low pass at 10:30 PM. And No I don't live near a military base.  For the most part they have been Blackhawks and Apaches.  Oh yeah and two of those parachute with engines things as well. Copious amounts of bird excrement have found their way onto my driveway and automobiles too.

Graywolf, quit complaining about the bird crap and give thanks to God that Emu's don't fly.  ;D

Now that you mention it there has been an increase in late night helo activity here as well since last winter.
It's dark of course so I'm in and could not see to ID the aircraft any way, but by sound it's a Blackhawk and has the rotors pitched so they are REALLY hammering.

Two Osprey's circled here yesterday.  Of course, I am NEAR the flight path of Dobbins AFB.

But it's always interesting when they take a detour directly over my neighborhood.

Oh and this is interesting time for this topic as I'm looking for the dimensions of the AR-15 bolt carrier and bolt.  I think I have one with a slight problem and want to take some measurements and need to know the tolerances.

WOW.   Hadn't even had time to research it and there you posted it.  Thanks, Tom.   Exactly what I needed.  I can't believe you have risked going to a secret terrorist jail like that.  What if our enemies got a hold of this.  They could be making ARs to use against us.   ;)

Hard to describe what the measurement is without a picture, but it's the distance the bolt rings can move forward.   On the bad carrier they just come out of their hole when the bolt is open, which is not a good thing.   I'm thinking they either cut the bolt pin guide too far forward or the hole in the middle of the carrier is too deep.   Given time, I'll post a drawing of what I'm talking about.

Thanks again for the link.

I have been doing a lot of research lately on the American Revolution. Especially what led to it. Namely it was people being told how to live their lives by a king that had no clue who they were. They had taxes levied upon them without being represented, and finally they the British came to take their guns.  (Sounding familiar yet?)

More and more I fear that things are going to get really bloody before they get better. I guess I am resigning myself to the fact that we have hit the point where we can no longer fix things working within the system, but no one has stepped up to start shooting the bastards yet.

God grant that I may not be found wanting,
