So, here I am searching for a reasonably priced
« on: September 20, 2015, 12:55:28 PM »
used wheel gun to have around the house for 'just in case'.  I was thinking S&W model 10 cause there ubiquitous.  Alternatively, a Ruger Speed Six.  I like the push thumb release for the cylinder on both models.

I've got  a S&W Model 15 that the wife has appropriated, so a second revolver that has similar operation would be a plus.

I start cruising the used gun sites, police trade in sites, and auctions and the like.

Holy horse biscuits!!!!  A well used Model 10, solid lock up and functions well but beat to hell is $300!!!  A Speed Six?  $500.

I can get a sp101 for about $500.  New.

WTF?  Anybody?  Bueller?

You can find a SP101 used in the 300 range.  Not bad to shoot full load mags either.

I've seen a number of revos for under $400 lately, I just can't remember whose flyers or what models.  I'm vaca at the beach this week, so most of my google-foo is at home.  I'll try to look it up next week for you.

Taurus makes a decent one, so does Ruger.  I prefer the Taurus or an S/W (if I was wealthy).

Locally/statewide, they tend to run close to retail.  For and extra $50, I'll just buy new.

Waiting with bated breath.

Taurus and Charter Arms are two that I can just not warm up to.  No matter what the experience of others, they ain't for me.

S&W is good, if I can find a used one at a decent price.  Ruger is good too, but the used Speed/Security Sixes are going for as much as a new sp101, and nearly as much as a GP100.

Okay, back home and in the command center.

Sadly, all I could find in my archives were Taurus and Rock Island revolvers.     The later mostly in .38spl.

But if you want a cheap one and don't intend to shoot it a lot...

I'll keep an eye out though over the next week.
