ICORE Postal Match 2015

I shot the ICORE postal match last week.  Didn't set any records.  With any luck I'll get to shoot it over in a month or so.

Here's the videos of stages 1 and 4.   I could have done a better job of positioning and adjusting the camera. 

Remember these are simple stages designed so any shooting club can put them on without special targets or without have a lawyer to be able to do the scoring.

One unique feature about ICORE is they allow stage design where the X ring counts as a -1 second off your time.  Top Open/Unlimited shooters sometimes even end up with a negative score.   Emphasizes accuracy.  This year's Stage 4  postal match had that scoring.  I got 12xs out of  36 shots.  Mostly on strings 2 & 3.   Stage four was three strings.   Freestyle, 3 shots per target a 15m.  Strong hand, 2 shots per target 10m.  Weak hand, 1 shot per target 5m. 

Stage 1, final score 44.96

Stage 4, final score 62.56

I saw your pics on FB.  Looked like a lot of fun.  I was suppose to shoot a USPSA match but I was reminded it was my anniversary

ICORE is on my list of must tries.  I have decided that since I will never be a top shooter, I might just as well have fun and try them all.  Congrats on getting out and playing the game!

The fun thing is that most stages aren't too physically taxing.  They draw from USPSA, IDPA, and others, but rarely go to extremes.   Remembering that ICORE average age is a bit older than the other disciplines, except for Bullseye.

A stage at one match had large steel (2'x3') at 10 yds (how fast can you pull the trigger?),  small poppers, paper tagets and a bowling pin.

Not wonderful, but not too shabby, considering I drove 2.5 hours to get there, only 3 of us shot the match and then piled back in to drive 3 hours home (heavy traffic).

My shooting buddy in Augusta, Mark Sullivan, who sponsors ICORE at the Pinetucky Club placed 13th in Classic, so we're a good pair and encourage each other.   This year I will practice the stages a bit at my new range.

GOTs TO BE A STORY HERE:  If you look at the end of the combined scores you'll see 17 shooters from WPS, Albany NY, on August 11th shot stages 1 & 3 but didn't shoot stages 2 & 4 so ended up with a DNF.  I wonder what happened?  Bad weather?  Ran out of daylight?  The RO was DQ and booted off the range?  Shut down by the police?  But then they submitted their scores anyway?   The shooters who shot at the same range on June 9th completed their stages though?

I encouraged it, wasn't part of the committee, BUT N. Ga now has a ICORE club.   Or more accurately, River Bend GC has approved holding ICORE matches.   Our first match is April 9th.   2 classifiers and 2 scenarios.   I'm the first to register in Practiscore.

I'm hoping we can run this year's postal match at least twice.

Also, for those who don't know this years IRC will be held at Universal Shooting in Florida.   I've got my calendar clears already.
