I support Drug Testing for Recieving Government aid
« on: August 19, 2008, 02:37:03 AM »
This Week in Congress
Your Headlines, Your Issues, Your Opinions

SHOULD NEEDY FAMILIES BE REQUIRED TO TAKE DRUG TESTS TO RECEIVE AID?

Sen. David Vitter (R-LA) introduced a bill that would amend the Social Security Act to require States to implement a drug testing program for applicants for and recipients of assistance under the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program. If an applicant fails a drug test, or was convicted of a drug related crime they can be denied aid. Also, states would be allowed to require random or set time drug tests. A person can be permanently denied aid if they fail three drug tests or receive three drug related convictions.
Read the details of the bill -The Drug Free Families Act of 2008
Tell Congress and the President if you support or oppose this bill or what you would do differently.

ACTION POLL: Pick the view that comes closest to your own. The choice of Congress is to vote this bill up or down or amend it. So if you support the idea but want to see it changed, pick the support option. If you think we should do something else, pick the oppose option. Be sure to personalize your response to make it more influential.

Yes, Support Drug Tests to Receive Federal Assistance
No, Oppose Drug Tests to Receive Federal Assistance

How can you justify the hypocritical position that it's OK to violate the 4th and 5th amendments then scream like hell when the 2nd is infringed ?
If you  said do away with federal aid I would agree, it is not the job of the federal govt. to support those to lazy to work.
If you had said suspend the voting privileges of those receiving Federal aid I would have agreed, there is no Constitutioal RIGHT to vote.

I support not having the right to vote if you cant be a productive enough member of society to pay taxes.

If you mooch, then you should have no say in how things are run and how our tax dollars are spent.

Government checks aren't Constitutional rights, either.
I love waking up every morning knowing that Donald Trump is President!!

We did a thread on "Urinalysis" last winter, please refer back to it if you can find it, as I misplaced my copy of the Constitution and so I can not reproduce my arguments at that time.
Cleaning house, I put it "Where I would be sure to find it" haven't seen it since  ;D

Why not drug testing for anybody who operates any motor vehicle on roads maintained by the govt?

Why not require breathalyzer ignition interlocks on all vehicles driven on those roads?

Why not reqiure helmets w seat belts in cars on those roads?

The slope can get silly as well as slippery...
