The first vote I ever cast as an over-21 American was for Ronald Reagan when he ran for Governor of California.  Every time he ran for political office after that first time, he got my vote.

I know he was not perfect, and in some ways he was not even much of a conservative, but he was the closest thing to a "great leader" that I have seen in my lifetime.

I remain convinced today that he would be doing a better job, dead, Alzheimer-ie, and nearing 100, than any of the current crop of politicians.

I'm glad I'm old and won't have to see the total destruction of this nation I loved and served.  Though, it causes me great sadness to think of what we'll be leaving to my grandkids.

“I’ve lived the literal meaning of the ‘land of the free’ and ‘home of the brave.’ It’s not corny for me. I feel it in my heart. I feel it in my chest. Even at a ball game, when someone talks during the anthem or doesn’t take off his hat, it pisses me off. I’m not one to be quiet about it, either.”  Chris Kyle

Regan's acting background and experience, his strong personality, his knowledge of human nature, and his leadership abilities combined to allow him to lead and communicate without actually using the force he promised.  People believed he would follow through.  I believe it was his acting and communication background that made him the master of the "hot mic."  Pres. Regan got more done with his supposed slips and gaffs at a hot mic than many get done in speeches and meetings.
If I appear taller than other men it is because I am standing on the shoulders of others.
