Two questions, please?
« on: November 10, 2015, 08:15:57 AM »
1. Holster help..
Need a holster with the Velcro on the outside for a car holster that I want to make for the wife. Have a fanny pack that has it but can't remember who made it and no tag..
Needs to be specific fit.
2. NRA Annual Meeting..
If you hadn't been, (I haven't) and you could only go to one, (given the state of affairs, pre-election, and the potential state of affairs in 2017 if it goes south), which would you go to, Louisville in 16 or Atlanta in 17?
I'm in Atlanta area now but I don't want that to be a consideration on which I should make priority. Uncontrollable factors make location less of a consideration than one might guess..
--------
Thanks guys.. I appreciate the time and any opinions offered..

You can get Velcro strips at any dollar store.
That way you can match door and holster.

I'm with Tom on this. When you are looking for something that specific, it's far easier to just do it yourself.

As for the NRA meeting, he who hesitates.....Go to Louisville.

Dollar Store Velcro tends to be pretty weak stuff.  It's the lower end of the lower consumer type of product.  You can get a more industrial type Velcro that will hold up to use by heading out to one of your local crafts type stores (like Michael's) or by going to the Tandy Leathers website (tandyleather.com).  You should find everything you need there, including leather and synthetic sinew) to make up what you want.

And, to echo my brothers--go to Louisville.  None of us have any conclusive information that life will continue on in 2017.  Take what you can while the taking is good.

Can't help with the Velcro.

But as far as the convention, I'd go to the next one possible.  Both if you can swing it.   I didn't know 2017 was ATL.

My friends got some good 3M Velcro at an auto parts store. It cost more than the alternative but is much better. You should be able to use it on any holster you find that fits your gun. If I was going to one of the NRA shows I would rather go to Louisville than Atlanta.

Thank you guys!! Been doing the craft store thing, doing homework and gathering more questions than answers, per (my) usual.. There is actually a Tandy Leather just up the road maybe 20 miles.

"The Project"..
Need a piece of leather maybe 12"x36", folded like a tri-fold wallet Using the front as a holder for a travel-sized pack of tissue from which to dispense them, and a visible holster for a pair of glasses, with the top open as a trash can for used tissue, with the back, less visible fold, (recessed 3/4" or so) stiffened and closed by tension, concealing a holster that can be accessed by simply straight fingers..
---
Not sure that paints a valid picture, but easy to cut and assemble..
Thanks for the input.. If I can do Louisville, I will!!!
God bless, guys!! I appreciate it sure enough!

I'm in north-central Indiana and planning on Louisville and being an optimist hope to go to Atlanta too that is where my wife was raised so it will be easy to convince her to go there too.
I will be making reservations next month for a hotel on the IN. side in Clarksville area (Basspro is there).
There is room for all of God's creatures ....., That would be on my plate right next to the taters and gravy.
