Before we vote...

Homeschooled all three boys from k to 12.  One wanted to work...he's working.

One wants to be a preacher and graduated Cum Laude from college and is in seminary now.

The last one wants to be a Petroleum Engineer...he's sophomore now doing well in school with scholarships from a high ACT score.

My wife did the heavy lifting and she is without "credentials" for teaching.

There are curricula for the computer that do the real teaching.  My mom was a 30 year teacher and hated that we homeschooled and now is glad we did it.  I constantly heard the social interaction thing and it's not the big deal everyone things...it was a smaller part of development than even I thought it would be.  The biggest unseen benefit is their resistance to peer pressure and the ability to walk away from a bad situation shaking their head about how dumb their friends or acquaintances are.

Timothy, I hope ya'll get to homeschool the granddaughter.

Congrats on the success!

Not sure I could do it though.  I've never been too patient with those I've instructed.

My last two years in the Navy were at a teaching command.  I've always been a very quick study and lose patience when others can't pick things up as fast!

My kids damn smart and so is Dad.  They'll figure it out if he can tear himself away from assassinating tree rats out the bathroom window!

;)

Timothy you can do it. Heck, these days the computer does most of the work anyway with the study guides and outlines handed to you.  They have a teacher's help as well.

All you need is a buggy switch to keep the little buggers focused.

There is also that nagging problem of having to work another ten years or more.  Might could do the junior high or HS down the road but living past 70 ain't exactly something that's real common in my gene pool...

Maybe...  with the new ACA we'll all live past a hunert...right?

my main issue with homeschooling is that I have yet to meet a well adjusted person that was.

they miss a lot of the good and the bad social interaction that happens.

when I was younger, I use to seek out the homeschooled girls... they would do anything for attention and I mean anything.

Well, for what it is worth, I cast my Primary vote today.....let us see where the chips fall....and considering this is political, by "chips" I mean of the bovine variety and not wood.
"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

For the Patriots of this country, the Constitution is second only to the Bible for most. For those who love this country, but do not share my personal beliefs, it is their Bible. To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison

Ditto....  They wouldn't let me vote in both primaries..

So I picked blue instead of pink!

I think home schooled kids miss more from missing the bad parts of public school. They miss learning how to deal with assholes

That's where the training comes in.  Think Mozambique drill...oh wait, you didn't mean quite that did you?  Maybe we had it good having this nearby:  http://noahjags.org/

My youngest did the skeet thing, some basket ball and football.  The Mozambique they picked up training for life threats at USSA.

That's fine for threats, but a tad extreme for annoyances. ;D
