Star B 1911 in 9mm $290
« on: January 28, 2016, 08:05:29 PM »
As I posted in another forum, AIM Surplus had Star Model B 1911's in 9mm for $289.95.   I heemed and hawed and when I got around to it a day or two later they were sold out...  DUH.   So I signed up for an email notification when they had stock in.

I don't read my emails every minute, but when I read their restock email this week I went straight to their sight to buy one.    Their email was sent around 1pm.  I got to the web site at 4pm... sold out.   Yep, that a really good buy.

I've got to figure a way to have any incoming AIM Surplus emails sent via text message.

They also have  Polish Radom P-64 9x18 Pistols for $249.95. They look to be in good shape and are curio and relics. http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?groupid=5396&name=Polish+Radom+P-64+9x18+Pistol

If you don't mind a 1911 in 9 mm the Star is one of the best of the foreign versions. They never got the respect they drserved in this country, but are extremely popular everywhere else.

I have seen the Stars available at different times...it's a little harder to buy opportunistically here in NJ because you need to spend a month getting a pistol permit. Regardless I've seen some nice 9mm 1911s, and have been thinking about getting one.  All of a sudden I realized that since I love the 1911 and would like to try one in 9, I should be thinking about the Browning Hi-Power...the one JMB designed for 9mm.
I'm thinking that's the route I'd go when I have the time and money to start down that path.

I doubt if any of you'll get this in time, but they've got some more in at AIM.  No box, so the price is $269.95.    (5pm EST 10/29)

The Stars are actually pretty good guns. One of the reason they fly out the door is they're hugely popular with Hollywood. They are easily mistaken for 1911s and they are super easy to get to run with blanks.

As I age, I find that as a die hard 1911 fan, a Colt or S&W 1911 in 9mm is my choice.  I have used the S&W 1911 9mm for league with some success.

One of my friends uses a Springfield 1911 9mm. He does well with it. Claims the trigger is great.

I saw some very nice used FN P35 HiPowers at Gander Mt Saginaw for $350 to $400 in October. Made me want my old HiPower back.

BTW I still like my Sig P226 and won't trade it anytime soon.
