Sad news indeed. However, not much new here, Daley and his thugs have been after gun owners for a long time.

When the Dims swept the state elections back in 2000 in Illinois, due in no small part to a RINO named Ryan, since convicted of criminal activities, I physically moved all of my weapons (save one) and ammo out of state. When 9/11 hit, I had to go buy a new shotgun (just HAD to) and ammo just for defense. My only pistol was stored at a gun range since my town decided even with the FOID I was not allowed (!!) to own a handgun (Evanston, IL, just down the road from Morton Grove, who still has their anti-handgun law on the books too - almost 25 years later).

Then, shortly before I left that accursed state a few years back, I saw, firsthand, an official police order from the then Chicago Superintendent of Police, instructing all officers that if they, in the routine conduct of their business, came across any weapon of .50 caliber or greater, it was to be deemed an assault weapon and immediately confiscated. Daley had the City Council morons pass a law banning assault weapons some years ago.

I'm sure this order was aimed at the Barrett's and the like, you know, the huge, clumsy, un-Godly heavy and expen$$ive bolt action rifles that everyone knows are the favorites of the local gang bangers. It also meant confiscation of Revolutionary and Civil War muskets, all of which I believe are well more than .50 caliber. And all without the benefit and bad publicity of passing a silly law first, just a police order. You know, like the ones the Nazi's used to round up Jews and other undesireables.

Where is the NRA fighting this? Where is GOA, RKBA, and the others we have been sending money to all these years? Where are the class action lawsuits in Federal courts to get the cases away from all of Daley's patronage judges he has so dearly bought and paid for? The men in Pike County at least have some cajones to stand up to the State/Daley.

For the other poster here mentioning revolution time - like many others I'm sure I have sadly pondered the likelihood and potential for this. Are people really willing to stand up to the well-armed thugs (well-armed at taxpayer expense, mind you) that currently seem to make up most of the police departments. And for the LOEs on this site, I hope and am trying to exclude you in this, but you know better than I who I am referring to in your own departments, the young misfits, eager to get ahead, and willing to obey any order, no matter how illegal. the ones who will willingly arrest even you if so ordered by "upstairs". We saw that blind obedience in New Orleans, with some officers apologizing to the gun owners as they followed illegal orders to confiscate the firearms. Apologies do no good to the people who still do not have their weapons back.

IMHO, the militarization of the police forces over the past 20-plus years has been a conscious, planned effort, as these men and women will be on the front lines of any Federal gun-grab. At least until the federales can come storming in, ala Waco, Ruby Ridge, et al. et al. et al.

Does not give one warm fuzzies in the power of the law.

So where exactly is the flash point? Here we have a clear example of legal abuses. When does this country say - enough?

Any thoughts?

I'm lucky enuff to be more down state but we still feel Fuhrer Daley's B.S. down here through his son-in-law Gov. Il Duce Blagojevich.
I hate to say it but as long as Chicago is conected to IL. we're screwed. At the NRA convention I was so embarrest as someone would show me a holster and start telling me all the great ways that it would work in consealed carry. Once I would say that I was from IL., all would put their hand on my shoulder and tell me how sorry they were for me. This is not a joke. they would do it over and over again.

It is a shame that not all Americans are free to exercise their Constitutional right to Keep and Bear Arms.  But this is a perfect example of how registration is ALWAYS the first step to confiscation.  Not sometimes, not maybe, ALWAYS.  Do not ever let anyone fool you about this.

That stage may be coming to an end.

What I want to know is why are these anti gun rights idiots allowed to infringe on our rights? Why can Congress and town and counties and States all act independently to destroy rights that are spelled out as God given in the first place? When are we going to  stop taking it? We all saw what happened with Zumbo when he decried black rifles, we need to be just as loud and upset when these idiots plan on taking away everything we own. We have jumped through every hoop they have held out and I am sick of it! I unfortunately live in the late great state of California. I too feel bad about what they have done here. I have never voted for any of the people that supposedly "represent" me. It didn't help when a lot of gun people cut and run in the early 90's. We need to stand and fight. I am tired of being classified as a criminal by decree. I wish I could own a black rifle but they have been outlawed. Want to own a 15 round magazine? Sorry, we can't trust you with more than 10 rounds. I belong to the NRA and I vote but when you are outnumbered, guess what? Democracy doesn't work. I will stay in the fight and I am not leaving. When they collect my guns I will be dead or in prison. Put on my tombstone "He fired back".

Well here is a idea from Nebraska,  RECALL ALL THE ANTI-GUNNERS IN YOUR STATE,COUNTY,AND CITIES!!!!!!   THAT MEANS THE POLITICIANS!!!!!!!   And tell them incase they do not lose their recall election,/tell the anti-gun politicians that you will hold them accountable for their[politicians anti-gun] actions incase something should happen to you by a felon in possesion of a firearm!!!!!!!!!   INCLUDE THE JUDGES TO!!!!!!!!!!!   Rich Z,Omaha,Ne.

Unfortunately we can't get a fair deal. The Dems have carved up the state in such a way that they will always have control of the state government. We may be able to get a Republican governor from time to time but if you look at their records they give lip service to gun issues. The funny thing is if you look at the last election on a county by county basis, the majority of counties voted for Bush but the electoral vote goes to Kerry. The large cities and their very anti-gun agenda rule the roost here and that is not going to change. I had hope when Pike County stood up to Chicago and told them they were not going to take it. Then I saw on the NRA site that in CA the state government shall have the only say on gun laws. That is how San Francisco always loses when they decide to be a gun free city. The other side is we can not have another Kennesaw GA situation either. I know that at the end of the day I will have to leave the state to pursue freedom, but as an American it just feels wrong to be run out of the place you were born and raised and started a career and family. It feels like you are giving in to evil. I hope none of you in other states have to go through the garbage we do. Only gun owners in MA may have it worse than us. I know some people are afraid of the Supremes hearing the Parker case but I am hoping that it would go our way if heard. Then, we may be able to get rid of most of the restrictions lifted against honest gun owners nation wide.
