Buying Stuff On E-Bay ??

I've never done it. And I'm not comfortable doing it because of all the horror stories of people being ripped off. I don't know anything about "Pay-Pal", and I'm not excited about learning anything, or opening an account either.

I would like to buy these grips for one of my Browning Buckmark pistols. (Scroll up to the top).

It's very hard to find custom grips that will fit the Camper UFX Model. (Browning makes about 4 different grip frames for the Buckmark, and none are interchangeable). So you have to be careful which one's you buy, or they won't fit. These will.

They say they take Visa, but I think it is in some way connected to Pay-Pal. There is a lot to learn with E-Bay if you've never used it. And I don't want to get ripped off. This guy has a 99.9% "positive feedback", but I'm just not sure. Any of you guys buy from E-Bay? How did it go?

I've bought a lot (200+ transactions) and they've covered problems before...including a $500+ coin purchase once.  They have even reversed transactions when I got hooked up with a shyster that screwed some people in front of the line from me. 

Just follow their rules for a claim and make certain your read all of the fine print before you buy.  99.9 percent is good...but I make certain they have more than 50 or so purchases first.  Less than that can be a lark.  The more successful deals they make the more likely they are good-to-go....in my book anyway. 

I just dumped PayPal.  Never had any problem except the gun thing and the supporting queers and pedophiles in the bathroom thing....which is why I dumped them.  They don't need me anyway.

I would like to find something that works for money transactions that isn't politically active.

So, that person or entity with the grips has over 13,381 transactions with a 99.9% positive rating.  I'd buy from them.  If you are concerned about the credit card....get another one with a low limit so the level of abuse is low.  Maybe 2 or 3 so you can add them together for larger purchases...if allowed...and most of the people I've bought from don't care..

eBay, is a good place to get old items you'd want.  I picked up a bunch of Octagon soap just as it went off the market.  I have bought a lot of 60's-70's bug repellant and bug spray from there too.  The old stuff that works.  The old merthiolate and mercurochrome....ditto.  Last purchase was some perfume for the wife from some provider with about 20,000 transactions and 99+%...it was 1/4 price and the exact same thing.....

I never bought anything from eBay and have always been afraid I'd get screwed if I did but I've never seen anything there I wanted to buy anyway. I used PayPal once to get something from a company based in Singapore or wherever it was. There was no problem at all. I signed up with my credit card and charged whatever it was in $USD and when I got my credit card statement it was on there.

P.S. I do occasionally get spam emails that look like they're from PayPal but they're not. Be careful if you open any email that's supposed to be from them.

I bought some P6 mags a few months back.  Arrived on time and have worked flawlessly in my near 40 year young Sig!

I shop online with an Amex Serve preloaded credit card to eliminate any threat to my regular credit card or debit card.  If you don't use direct deposit, it's a buck/month service fee.

I don't use pay pal.

I was always leery of eBay as well....had a friend that bought everything through them and highly recommended it for buying......so, I opened an account a few years ago and man have I made up for lost time...... I've got good deals on everything from beard oil to truck tires to headlight brackets.
I buy as much, or probably more, through ebay as I do Amazon .... especially since Amazon recently raised their minimum purchase price for free shipping to $50 (trying to push Prime memberships) and most things on ebay ship free if you shop around.

The number one thing to look at is seller ratings....eBay is very serious about seller ratings.

I've only had one problem and it was an odd "no fault on the part of the seller or buyer" thing....the USPS delivered it to the wrong address and whomever got it in the mail by mistake either kept it or threw it away. Since the tracking info showed a "delivered" status, it was basically going on my word that I didn't receive it. When I sent in a customer service inquiry, ebay issued a courtesy refund out of their pocket, even though it wasn't really their issue.

I've used PayPal for a while and it makes life easier when ordering...no need to type all your info into different websites to complete orders...but, like Rastus, I have decided to dump them after recent actions taken by them that cost promised jobs.
