Sig P210

I guess I have been living in cave, but I just found out about this gun tonight. I was wondering if anyone has got shoot one, or owns one and how did they like it. I cant afford one, but think is a very interesting handgun that has great practical application. From what I have read a bunch of Army's and Police forces around the world have used this gun. Do they still make it?

Never shot one but handled one years ago.  Made like a fine Swiss watch.  One of the reasons why I decided to buy a Browning BDA (SIG 220) in 1978 was because it is a gun design by SIG.

I don't believe they are made anymore, and Sig stopped importing them a long time ago. I read that DSA used to import military surplus 210s and they are cheaper but good luck finding them. Sig "replaced" them with the P226 X5 as far as high performance single action 9mms go as well as the X6 in Europe; similar accuracy, hand made and a skosh less expensive.

Personally if I could go into a gun store and walk out with one gun cost being no object it would be a P210 (I'd add a beavertail though, its notorious for hammer bite). A true class act and a timeless work of art.

So I found this website that sells that P210 but I think the lowest one I saw was around 2500. I thought you guys would like to check them out tho.

So what is the BDA? Is it what the 220 is made after or the other way around? I will try to look it up on the net rightnow. But how is the BDA? and what is the price on a good one?

The P210 has totally sparked a new love affair.  I am saving my pennies for a new carry\service handgun. (Either Sig 220 or FNP 45 there is a big price difference but both are about equal I think in reliability.) I need to be careful cause I have been leaning toward the FNP but I might just end up getting the 220 for about twice the price.

The Browning BDA is a sig Sauer P220 imported by Browning in the late 70's early 80's I believe, I could be wrong about the 70's. Anywho, they made them in a few different calibers 9mm and 45 being the more popular models. Eventually Sig themselves started formally importing them and the rest is history.

What about the Smith and Wesson 4506-1 or just the 4500 series ? This is a handgun I have loved since the first time I saw it on The Shield. It is a handgun I never here too much about but seem to see it alot in movies. And most people think that it is just a 1911, that the actor is carrying. I know they quit making it for some reason, I think it is because they went with the M&P and the 1911 line, or maybe people were not buying it. I just like it the way it looks. i want to handle one. But is it based after the p210 does anyone know? and is the 4506 a good gun or does it have issues?

But seriously, at that price, with all the other quality 9mm's out there, it just better be not just great, but dammed great.  It better shoot one inch groups at 100 yards carrying a nuclear tipped bullet.  Oh, and a factory service plan where they come to your house to clean and adjust your guns for you.  I don't think that's going to happen, so I think it's just a status symbol to show off to your shooting buddies more than anything else. 

The Smith 4506 is one big heavy chunk of stainless steel.  I remember the single action trigger was so close to the back of the trigger guard that it was difficult to shoot(kind of like having an extra short trigger on a 1911, if such a thing exists).

I haven't been in a cave long. The single-action SIG P210 was designed and built in the late '40s and was the Swiss Army pistol until the mid-70s. As far as I know it's the earliest SIG pistol.

One Browning-Double-Action B-DA was a double-action variation of the Browning High-Power developed by FN in the 80s when the U.S. military was shopping around for a 9mm.

There was also another Browning-Double-Action BDA that was an imported P220 with the Browning name on it.

And there was the Browning-Double-Action BDA .380 that's similar to a Beretta 84.

Consufused yet?    I am. All 3 BDAs, or B-DAs, are different designs.
