I went outside yesterday when it was in the 50s and took a picture of my sidewalk that I edged with the snowplow last fall. There are tires tracks across the grass where I plowed from the street to the front porch. I plowed a path across the lawn so the mail carrier could park her truck and walk across from the street, instead of walking through half a block of snow on the sidewalk. I'll have to get the edger out this summer and clean things up.

Before with the single disconnect switch for the furnace and after (metal plate ordered) with 2 hot outlets and a transfer switch to allow either a/c mains or external (battery) supply.   A/C main comes in from the top and the furnace is wired through the bottom.

The Kill-a-Watt meter tells me the draw when the fan is running full out is around 200Watts.  Slightly disturbing is that the internal electronics draw 500ma all the time.  Me thinks in a true power outage situation I'd manually power it up and down as needed and not waste power during non-use time.

The biggest problem with the weather this week has been dense fog. It cut visibility down to 1/4 mile, and perhaps less. That means you can see ~11 seconds ahead of you at 80 mph. Not ideal by any means, but at least I'm not flying a plane. Fog is rarely a problem except for the odd low spot here and there, but with the rain and temperature changes it got really bad.

Supposed to be in the 80's here tomorrow and Saturday and then by Monday back in the 20's. Welcome to February in the south.
"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison

That's not dense.  It was so thick on the mountain a couple of nights ago it took us a solid hour to travel 9 miles.   We often stopped with both windows down to see how far we were from the ditch because that was the only way to know where we were on the road.  So we drove with both windows down going from side to side trying to follow the ditches at times.

It was low 70's today in the shade.  Very nice.  It'll be 21 Come Monday...

When I was still working, there was one freeway exit ramp that used to have fog most mornings. There's hole in the ground full of water there that the ramp circles around. Other than that, I got used to going months at a time without seeing any fog. So when we had a couple of days with dense fog advisories, it was an event to take notice of. We're suppose to have highs in the 20s, 30s, and 40s for 2 weeks. Up and down, up and down.

Oh, no! Snow. It's cold enough that it snowed last night and it's still here this morning. It's 27 degrees ~11:30, but feels like it's only 17. That's why I didn't go out and draw a frowny face on the windshield. I'm debating whether I want to get my free food (with purchase) at Panda Express today, or completely miss out on it. It's only a 14 minute round trip, but it will take me nearly that long to sweep all the snow off the car, unless I drive around with it piled on the roof.
