Just had to share. Pumped after work today. Thanks for listening.
If you watch Craig Sager's memorial service today on NBATV or NBA.COM, then you got to see the end results a rather hurried 24 hours.
For those that didn't watch or didn't even know who he was, he was a sideline reporter for TBS NBA Sports. A fun loving guy and a real fighter against cancer. #SagerStrong. Loved by all of NBA'dom and he was a loyal Cubs fan.
Anyway we were told Sunday his memorial service was on Tuesday. We met with TBS tech's, producer and PR on Monday at 10am. I worked all night preping in order to provide 5 cameras, camera ops, appropriate videos and graphics, and to prepare my director for the challenges of live sat feed. And this morning they wanted to move one camera, to provide family shots.
This becomes even more complicated as you start layering onto, my crews and equipment, the TBS director, tech folks and PR, the Encompass sat truck and its control room, the TBS control room, & the NBATV control room. With a bevy of PR and TV folks at each. Of course all the TBS Sports and NBA execs were in the audience so they didn't weren't a bother. Good thing the NBA season is in full swing, else the place would have been packed.
My gear and configuration worked and was acceptable to TBS/NBA for broadcast. Whew-w-w-w. We started testing at 9am and got the final approval to go live at 9:45. Doors opened at 10 and we went live at 11:03. An hour, 45 minutes later we had a wrap.
This is my control room, with my director, TBS PR and TBS engineer just before we started.

Thanks for reading. I'm exhausted and still have my regular video shoots and live productions to do in-house now.
