Sarah Palin?
« on: September 03, 2008, 10:58:39 AM »
I know that this should probably go in the Political section here, but really it is not so much about politics. But it is the biggest issue in the news and current events. So it should be listed on the page that has the most views and at the top. (My own opinion) And also it is more about someones' personal life and how the media seems to be ripping into it.

Does someones' personal life, and the choices of someone who is old enough to know right from wrong, reflect how they will preform at their job? Isnt that what we are really asking someone in politics to do, is a job. Unless that personal life affects that person on how they will preform their job I dont think that it should be an issue. If she attended a Muslim extremist school for 2 years, or she says that her mentor is someone that preaches to her that America and Americans are all wrong than I dont think that it should be a problem.

I have read about her views on abortion and abstenece but those are her views, and her daughter is of age to consent and make her own choices, and also has the knoweldge to know what the outcome is of her actions, who choose to ingage in those activities. What if her daughter was against guns also, does that mean that Govenor Palin will be against them as well?

I dont know much about her besides that, and she has, in state that is not into politics very much, a 91% approval rating. And that everyone who has talked about her, until yesterday, said she was the best choice that McCain could have made.

I guess I want to start a topic here about her to learn from you guys\gals, people I trust, what is the truth and is she a good choice for us?

Like I said before all I heard about, until yesterday, was that she is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I know that Senator McCain is older and is not in the best of health, so there is a real possibility that he may pass during a term in the White House, so do you all believe that Mrs. Palin could, who only has 2 years as being governor, run America. I am hoping that this discussion brings about facts and also views either way. Good or Bad. I will not vote for Obama either way so its not that I am being influenced on how to vote, I just dont know what the truth is and what the people that I look up to, and am a part of think about this and great impact this election is going to have.

Can we say, at this point now, that this election may be the most important for America, Americans, our values, our history,  and our over all well being, ever? There are major things happening rightnow with really no real leadership and depending on who is elected these major major major things could decide the cost of many lives and cost many of us our way of life.
Did we win???

All things considered, and all things being "what they are"- look at the people we've handed the reins to...George W....nope....Clinton....Ha....George Sr., Ford, Nixon, Reagan, Carter... Not a ONE of them did a perfect job.
So maybe YOU could run the country...you're responsible, you're willing to take on responsibility, and you're willing to do WHAT MUST BE DONE. That's a leader.

Palin has all that. Obama...I don't think so but some people do...he talks a good game. Let's just SAY they're both equally committed as I've said above and in their own way would do an equally good job. The difference is, Palin is one of us, Obama is a liberal, socialist type. There's only ONE choice.

The best things about her are that she is a free thinker, she owes no one , she understands the gun culture, she has a big family , she works for the people and takes it seriously. she has gone against her party on issues , mccain is in good health, hes going to be around, she also has a son in the military, I think this ticket can win , I like her.

I can not disagree with a thing you say, except maybe for Reagan.  If you are looking for a perfect leader, you will have to look somewhere other than among mere mortals.  That not withstanding, it is more than just one person, no matter who he may be, that makes great leadership and good government.   Since we are not a monarchy, the president must deal with congress and the courts, which can cause great mischief to even the best leader's plans and ambitions.

Exactly, pioneer...it's the team, the talent that the president brings to bear, and the circumstances. Thats why sometimes a person with great promise doesn't do so well and sometimes a so-so candidate does great...it's more than just the man(or woman). BUT...if you start out by picking someone who is from your camp...2nd amendment being very important, of course, you stand a better chance of getting what you want.
She COULD be the next Reagan...the next person to galvanize the republicans back to a conservative, principled party.

I posted the following on another forum, one full of liberals.  They are ranting about her lack of qualification, size of the groups she represents and the hypocrisy of family virtues vs. a pregnant unmarried daughter.  I decided to confront their views that we need professional politicians running this Country.  Not surprising I recieved several comments from those on the conservative and moderate sides, but it has gone unanswered by any liberals.  When someone quotes a portion of this post or reminds the liberals of it it goes unreplied to.

You guys crack me up. Our Founding Fathers worked hard to keep from having any individual have power for extended periods. Their intention was for the power of leadership to be passed from one to another. This constant quible over whether she has been in leadership long enough is a joke. Does she understand what it means to be an elected offical - Yes on different levels and in an area where you can't hide from your constituants. Does she understand the structure of the American form of government - This is an assumption, but I believe that she understands the branches of government and how they interact and remain independent. Can she work within a structured environment that relies on leaders working together and utilizing advisors - There has been a time where everyone involved has looked into their ability to work together and I figure they must be comfortable with each other. Can she stand firm on her decissions - I believe that some of what is being investigated shows that when she gives direction and you fight her you will answer for your indiscretions.

She is a citizen of the United States, she was born in the United States, she meets the age requirements, she is not a convicted felon, and if her ticket receives the proper number of votes she will have met all the legal requirements to serve as Vice President.
If I appear taller than other men it is because I am standing on the shoulders of others.

M58...The liberals want to make real the world of H.G. Wells and "Time Machine". A bifurcated world of Eloi to be tended to and the ruling class of Morlocks. No one should question the Morlock liberal or else you will be slaughtered and eaten.

In order to be for the people you have to be part of the people. Alaska is a major part of why she is part of the people. Up there even the governor is still just another person. She knows what it is like to suffer with gas prices and to that matter the last I heard, a gallon of milk was $8 in Alaska. Everything needs to be imported, except fish. :) She thinks like a mom and her best friends are average American people. Just like our fore fathers. Seriously, what more could you ask for in a politician.
