Rudy's speech must have hit a nerve,,,,,,"When your called an attack dog", you did something right.

I liked the Palin part of the speech when she said "caliber" ;)

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
Col. Jeff Cooper.

Before I became governor of the great state of Alaska -- (cheers, applause) -- I was mayor of my hometown. And since our opponents in this presidential election seem to look down on that experience, let me explain to them what the job involves. (Cheers, applause.) I guess -- (interrupted by chants of "Sarah! Sarah!") -- I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a community organizer, except that you have actual responsibilities. (Cheers, applause.)

I might add -- I might add that in small towns, we don't quite know what to make of a candidate who lavishes praise on working people when they're listening, and then talks about how bitterly they cling to their religion and guns when those people aren't listening. (Cheers, applause.) No, we tend to prefer candidates who don't talk about us one way in Scranton and another way in San Francisco. (Cheers, applause.)

*Sigh*  What a woman! If she wasn't married and I wasn't married... she'd be dating some smart, rich, chiseled guy and I'd still be unattached and bitterly clinging to my religion and guns.  ;D

Great speech, full transcript here, as given:

Anti: I think some of you gentleman would choose to apply a gun shaped remedy to any problem or potential problem that presented itself? Your reverance (sic) for firearms is maintained with an almost religious zeal. The mind boggles! it really does...

Me: Naw, we just apply a gun-shaped remedy to those extreme life threatening situations that call for it. All the less urgent problems we're willing to discuss.

Can we flip the ticket?

There is a good chance that may happen in office as McCain is rather old.

What a difference a week can make.  Up until now this election cycle was depressing.  Was uplifted when Thompson got in, but that fizzled.  Then McCain got the nomination which exited me as much as a trip to the dentist.  Last Fri. Palin was picked and I was energized.  But last night was almost unbelieveable that we could have a candidate that good.

Go Sarah!
