Laser engraved 1911 grips
« on: September 05, 2008, 12:46:32 AM »
I have a pair CUSTOM DESIGN Laser Engraved Gun Grips. The only other markings on the package are the Custom Design CD logo, P.O. Box 228, Fulton, Ca. 95439 U.S.A, and These grips fit the Gov't Model .45. They have the grim reaper with a scythe and hourglass on them. I think they made at least four different designs but can't remember what any others were. I got these limited edition grips 25 years ago, and after they were made the computer program for the laser was destroyed. I ordered one pair in rosewood and one in walnut but both pairs they shipped were walnut. I mail ordered them while stationed in Germany and had them sent home to my brother and didn't even see them for a couple of years. Oops, they made a mistake. One pair was on a Colt Series 80 I sold to a friend and the other pair is still in the package. I tried searching online several times to find anything out about the company but always come up empty handed. Any idea how I can find out how much they're worth? Since no more have been made in 25 years they must have some extra value to collectors. If I find out how much they're worth I may put them in the classifieds. All my .45s are Para double-wides so I can't even use these grips unless I buy a new gun. I would appreciate any help I can get in finding out more about the company or the value of the grips. Thanks guys.

Frank

Not a single reply in six days. I must be the only one who has these. Maybe they're even rarer than I thought.
Can anyone give me an idea what any laser engraved grips are worth? Do you think I should sell them?

Thanks M'ette. I tried looking up the company and they seem to be out of business. I tried looking for other similar grips and can't find them.

I pretty much found what 2HOW found.

I've got an ad campaign for these:

"Install these handsome Punisher grips and we GUARANTEE a trip in front of a jury for even the most righteous defensive shooting!"
Anti: I think some of you gentleman would choose to apply a gun shaped remedy to any problem or potential problem that presented itself? Your reverance (sic) for firearms is maintained with an almost religious zeal. The mind boggles! it really does...

Me: Naw, we just apply a gun-shaped remedy to those extreme life threatening situations that call for it. All the less urgent problems we're willing to discuss.

Thanks guys. I've seen a lot of scrimshawed and other type grips but not many laser engraved wood when I looked on my own. It looks like the nearest thing to mine would be $75. I put them back in storage and decided not to sell them.
