My new toy and some help please
« on: October 27, 2017, 10:29:48 AM »
SIG P220 - .45ACP - $350 from my buddy Dave at my LGS - a widow's consignment of Husband's collection - most everything else was hunting, long gun and reloading equip, but I walked through the door and first thing he said was "f..k  you" because he was almost sure I'd buy it before he could pay his business bills and get it himself.
(or at the very least a very good sales tactic)

Made in West Germany - 1984 (made when I was stationed there... also same year as my pick up... hmmmmm)

All the correct proof marks from Kiel and Ulm with the Nitro designation mark for higher pressure all numbers match in the G 129xxx with the barrel also proof marked -

Unfortunately no box, no papers, just the gun and the one mag that was in it.

Here's the help part - as it is a European heel mag release, it needs the 7 round no plastic on the bottom mags for the mag catch to well.... catch on to.

I've looked at my usual places, magwarehouse, CDNN, ebay, brownells, Midway, gunbroker, sigfourm for sale section - nada - anyone suggestions on where I might look?

I think all I want is two more - it's not a carry gun but a "I never thought I'd find a West German SIG and be able to afford it." gun for fun and shooting.

Nice gun...a great find.

Check out eBay.  I think there are several of what you need.

I have a ‘79 W. German P6 that was difficult to find mags for as well.  I had two, found three on eBay for a decent price that I managed to win.  My P6 has standard mag release but the newer P225 mags won’t work.

Keep checking...

Oh!  My P6 was only $250!

Yes, I do believe this will be a marathon and not a dash for mags.

Yea, I looked for factory mags only and Sig just won’t make the old ones anymore.  It’s just like them to reintroduce a P225 single stack and force a design change to make folks buy the new mag!

I’d probably do the same...

I avoided the aftermarket clones because of the inter web reviews of them and stuck with old factory ones.  Pricey but they run flawlessly!

I think this is what you're looking for. It says it's also for a Browning BDA .45. If so you can widen your search and maybe find one at a reasonable price. https://www.gunsamerica.com/913506184/German-Sig-P220-7-Round-45-ACP-European-Magazine-also-for-Browning-BDA-45.htm

I searched for Browning BDA .45 magazine for sale and the very first link I clicked on was Triple K who has one for $42. https://www.triplek.com/product/browning-bda-by-sauer-45-acp-7-rd/

They also list a 10-round mag of the same length for $48. I don't know what that's all about. And SIG P220 mags are $42, $61 for a factory mag. https://www.triplek.com/product/sig-p220-45acp-magazine-or-grips/

If I can find that on the very first link of the first page of results I'm confident there are other sources and some are probably cheaper than that.

Sig only sells the mags with plastic bases that use the other style mag release. On the plus side, if anyone need a a mag for a P220 Compact .45 they're on sale for $8.99. https://www.sigsauer.com/store/magazines.html?model=118&caliber=432

Very cool

Looks like you'll be haunting the larger gun shows for the mag well part.
