No matter who owns the trucks or who drives the trucks, a package shouldn't just sit there from Friday until Tuesday before they put it on one. UPS has never done that to me. When they shipped packages to me from Washington, not far from Vancouver, they covered a greater distance faster. It was an extra 3 hours from here if you drove it, but it only took half a week instead of a whole week.

Agree 100%....just making the point that part of the issues may stem from the use of contracted drivers vs full time FedEx employees. Just like the temp workers my old company used...they had no vested interest in the company and it showed in their performance.

Of course, on the FedEx issue, the actual FedEx delivery drivers that have delivered to us over the last ten years leave a lot to be desired. One left a laptop computer laying in the driveway twenty yards from the house and another literally threw a box of fragile (marked as such) sugar flowers over the top rail of the front porch and broke all the contents.

The USPS is as bad when it comes to packages.

If I have any say-so when it comes to shipping options, I always go with UPS.

Once more UPS does what the post office doesn't. I got a package this afternoon that was shipped yesterday evening. It made the trip from the the business to my house in 1 minute shy of 16 hours. It would have been here sooner but the driver was riding around town with it in the truck almost 6 hours today. That's longer than it took to get from Hodgkins, IL to the local facility. The UPS driver's route doesn't bring him by my house until the afternoon, usually around 3:00-3:30. It was free shipping too. I didn't want to pay extra to get upgraded.

fedex strikes again...

So I ordered a class vi. 12k# hitch for my truck.  Fully welded and powder coated... was supposed to arrive last Friday.   It went missing at thier family for a week.  Got here this morning.

It had clearly came out of the box as there was only a few pieces of tape holding the box together after the staples had been ripped out.     This is a 97# chunk of steal.  1/2plate on both sides... well sure enough the powder coating is chipped every where.  No big deal, I can live with that.  Then I notice one of the half inch plates does not look straight.  Its not, look closer and I notice radial cracks in the cornes  of the welds...  needless to say its going back.

But how the hell do you bend 1/2 steel plates and tweak a at least 3 pass stick welded joint to where it causes stress cracks in the corners?   I don't think I could do that with a come along and a 10# hammer, but some how fed ex found away

So maybe they saw it and needed it?  Tried to pull it with a tractor?

I need one of those.  Where did you get it from?

A 90 degree bend on 1/2 HRPO (hot rolled pickled and oiled) takes 33 tons, per linear foot!  Approx..

As some of you know, my Dad passed a year ago.  He lived in Mesa, AZ in an assisted living facility.  I tell people Covid killed him--not because he had the disease, he didn't.  But Arizona's governor shut everything down.  Dad wasn't allowed to go out of his room.  Communal dining was out.  Visitors were not allowed.  Even my sister, who lived less than two miles away was not allowed to see him.  Dad spent his final year in solitary confinement.  But that is not the point of discussion here.,

Dad left me a bunch of family stuff, like my great grand dad's gold pocket watch with an original Yosemite fob (from when it became a national park) and a collection of pocket knives, and a bunch of other stuff.

Bunny and I were getting ready to move from Florida to North Carolina and sister in AZ said it might be better to send it to me after we got settled.  Good idea.  No sense in moving it all twice.

In July of this year, Sis packed it all up into a large box and took it to UPS in Tempe.  UPS shows tracking data for it until it got to Goodyear--then it disappeared.  No tracking information after it got to Goodyear.  It's now officially lost and UPS is getting ready to pay the claim on my package.

But, how do you pay the claim on a lifetime of memories and family history?

USPS has temporarily lost letters for me, but they have always turned up.  UPS has disappointed me beyond belief.

Even at a ball game, when someone talks during the anthem or doesn’t take off his hat, it pisses me off. I’m not one to be quiet about it, either.”  Chris Kyle

You can't....and that's the crappy part.....and I truly hate that for you, CR.

I've noticed that the respective shipping outlets across the board have declined in quality of service progressively as the older generation employees retire and newer hires come in with a lower standard of work ethic.

I have noticed particularly with the USPS that thievery is becoming a norm. I mailed a money order inside a card once and the card arrived at the destination opened and the MO was gone. I've mailed, on at least four different occasions, birthday or get well cards and all arrived at the various destinations opened....with a stamp on the front saying "received in this condition." I have received cards in the same manner from others. I figure thieves just assume all manner of cards may have money in them so they get opened. If it was a defective sorting machine it should have been repaired by now.
