I used to get a lot of errors of some kind where I couldn't connect to the pages I wanted to go to. When I ran Windows Network Diagnostic it kept telling me it was a DNS problem. I had no idea what that meant but read up on it a bit. The Domain Name Servers that Comcast was using seemed to be the source of the problem. I found out how to force my computer to use another DNS instead of theirs. I chose Google at first just to see if it worked, and it helped, but I don't like Google and looked for something better. That's when I discovered OpenDNS. You can open a free account and set up your computer at no charge. It solved my problem and may fix yours too. Plus they don't sell your information like Google and some other places do.
Before this I had a lot of connection problems and the technical department couldn't fix it by sending a refresh signal to my modem. They had a wait and see attitude where if it still didn't work hours later they would try to figure it out. Now there's nothing to figure out. It works.
