1st time carrying concealed
« on: September 30, 2018, 01:19:17 AM »
OK, just got home to Southern California from a week's RV trip to the Grand Canyon.  And at the ripe old age of 65, carried a concealed (firearm) weapon for the first time.  Finally.

I've had a Utah non-resident's permit for a number of years - getting it was as much a political statement about my home as anything else, but I've always felt the need to carry some type weapon, even as a young adult.  In California, that's pretty much restricted to folding knives and a monkey fist on my keychain.

Prior to this trip, I hadn't traveled out of state since I obtained my permit.

Gosh, cross a border and things change, don't they?  I was able to carry my Ruger LCR in .327 - legally!  It felt very natural. The first day, I used a Sneaky Pete holster.  The following days, I pocket carried using a DeSantis holster.  I'll have to experiment with other modes of carry during future trips.

I'm back home now and I'm missing that little additional weight at my side.

I look forward to a Supreme Court that will set my state politicians and jurists straight about enumerated rights.

Good deal.  It's a shame you can't carry at home all the time.  Once you wear a sidearm for a while it get's just like your wallet...can't leave home without it and you don't notice wearing it (unless you carry a full size "brick bat" like I do...).

Moving isn't always an option, so I'm sure you are not alone in anxiously waiting for the laws to be set right.

I carry every day and I doubt there would ever be any reason strong enough to get me to move to a restrictive state.

Good luck ..and take as many trips out of state as you can manage.

Take care.

I second that.

Congrats for being able to finally experience the freedom of exercising your rights.

It's a great feeling to the security of carrying a gun and defending yourself legally.

Some do not understand that a person has every right to defend himself, and I can now say that not only from people. We still live in a world with the risk of wild animals attacking a person, and a citizen should be able to cope with this.
