DOD is buying Hornady .300 PRC ammo
« on: December 26, 2018, 08:46:56 PM »
I saw at gatdaily.com that the U.S. Department of Defense is buying .300 PRC ammo from Hornady for an undisclosed number of Barrett Firearms MRAD precision rifle systems. That sounds good to me. The 225 gr ELD Match bullet in .300 PRC has a little higher velocity at 500 yards than the 178 gr ELD Match bullet in .300 Winchester Magnum. And the .300 PRC has about 37% more energy and only 0.8" more drop at that distance when zeroed at 200 yards.

The DOD is buying more .300 Win Mag. ammo too, so now they have 2 different .300 calibers for their various sniper rifles. That couldn't possibly cause any problems with the right ammo getting to the guys who need it.  ::)
