Any one ever intrested  in doing it?   I have been for at least 10 years, but work has always been  in the way.

With the move coming, I was really Thinking hard about it.  If I start it before I start a business, I will have the time for it and I can set my schelgde  around it.  If I wait until after I start up, there is no way.

Tab, you should recognize that falconry is more than just a hobby.  It requires a time commitment that doesn't end when you decide to take a few days off for vacation, or you need a little extra time for a job.  It's an everyday deal that will monopolize all your time if you want to have any chance of being a successful falconer.

This ain't a "racing on the weekends" kind of sport.

  that is the point.  It's also why I would have too start it before I start a business or I won't start it at all.  I am not a 9 to 5 kind of guy.

I read some advice on "bird" care, not specific to falcons.

It said that when a bird eats, if it does not eat again within 24 hours, it dies....not at all sure if that time limit is the same or longer or shorter for different birds...

Yes, back too shriners.  They have. Big ortho hospital there. Huge pay cut, ( -40%)but it's what she wants.

I worked with a guy in grad school who had falcons, and CR is bang on the money. The most telling part is that you have to come to an "understanding" with the falcon/hawk/whatever raptor you have. It will always KNOW it is the boss, but it will obey you if you are able to dominate it.

I don't mean physically beating it, domination (in those days, may be different now) means staying up and keeping it awake until it can no longer function and sleep is mandatory - for it. You don't count until you stay up longer than the bird. It may take 48 hours, it may take more, but you have to be awake the whole time the bird is.

Find an active falconer and listen to what they say.

you have too be sponsored by law for a 2 year apprenticeship.    From the research I have done.

You need to pass a 100 question test with 80%, have an inspection of your facility, find a sponsor, vet a hunting licsene, then you can actually trap a bird.   By all accounts getting the sponsor is the challenge to get thru the red tape.

It sounds to me like it's more time and effort than it's worth. You may or may not get them to share a meal with you.
