Not Gun Related, But Who Gives A Damn

First off, I will be hit and miss the next few days, and then I am dropping off the grid for a couple weeks.  Taking a fun trip to Canada, and there is no anything where I am headed.

Second, we are over a month into our new home at work, and thought it is time to share the video we have on our website.  This video was taken about two weeks before we moved in, and it shows about a third of the office/administration areas, and a taste of the freezer, two coolers, and docks.  It also does not show the shop that will hold two full rigs for repair (can be seen a little at the 1:00 mark).

At the 1:02 mark you can see our separate freezer (large white building beyond the condensers).  The new building is 110,000 square feet, replacing an old 62,000 building that is still on the market if you are interested, and the freezer building his 42,000 square feet.  This building also contains a 40,000 square foot freezer.

I turned down an office at the end of the sales room, and my cubical is the closest (6:00 position) at the 0:11 mark.  The receiving coordinator and sales manager are across from me, and the boss's office is behind all the glass (When his door is open, we make eye contact and have easy communication).  The office kitchen is just 10' from me across the open walk way.  Boss's office doesn't look like much, but that was filler furniture used for the grand opening, until his arrived (his is the one with the rectangular rug, and the CFO and HR share the large corner office).

Looks pretty good for a cubicle farm.  They have done some interesting design stuff to make it feel warmer/friendlier than the average fabric-walled employee enclosure/containment center.  Anything that makes going to work less onerous and more pleasant is not a bad thing.  And that's one heckuva lot of cold box you guys have going.  Probably yields a rather large electric bill.  Hadn't actually thought about you working for Amigo Foods.  We get their Angus beef at our local Winn-Dixie.  Not bad beef.

Nicely done PR video.

Ditto on the cubicle farm, but it is better than one job I had where the client - due to a massive buildup of staff - had to put the majority of the people at folding tables with no assigned seating, just a laptop (provided by the client BTW) docking station. Luckily, I got a cubicle even though I was a consultant.

Enjoy Canada, people are squirrelly but generally nice. Wear your MAGA hat, well, just because!   ;D

Is this new facility on 51st? I thought it was out the in burbs but can only find info a new facility a little east of the old one on 51st.

Looks like it's a nice place to be planted with upside potential.  At least, it's planned for expansion....

Yes, it is on 51st.  We were on Millard, one block west of our current location.  AFS (Amigos Frozen Solutions) takes up most of the first block, along with a small abrasives company, and then the old Foods takes up the next block.  So, we basically moved two blocks.

Max had purchased land toward the SW burbs to get out of Chicago and Cook County, but with most of the employees living in the neighborhoods around the company it would have put a huge burden on them, and we would have lost many.  So, he sold the land to help pay for AFS.

I don't know what the land cost, in Chicago like most large cities, you purchase it by the square foot.  But, the building is just north of $25 million.
