Crews mess lower berthing deck

The supports (8 x 8 posts) are temporary during rework of the aft section of the berth deck.  There's another deck below above the bilge but we had no access.

I always love those old ships.

Btw about 15 years ago  a and e made a mini series on the hornblower books.   It is well worth watching  as they are on youtube.  I know it's British  but still good stuff
I always break all the clay pigeons,  some times its even with lead.

Yea, prolly not.  I mentioned to one of the swabbies that his Oakley shades were not standard issue with his period garb either!

They were all great kids!  I thanked them all for their service as I do every day!  I met a 94 year old tin can squid the other day!

True story...  All my illusions of any remaining youth  were shattered tonight.   Bunny and I went to dinner where I noticed an elderly chap with a WWII Vet ball cap.  Not that many left, so when dinner was over and he was still seated, I walked over and told him thanks for his service.  He looked up and asked me if I had served.   Yes, I said.  I was in Vietnam.  Oh, he said, so you were in AFTER me...  And he looked genuinely surprised.

I think I  did, too.

I'm still trying to catch up with the forum from last year. I think I've been behind for 11 months straight. :-[

There aren't many historical sites or objects I really want to see, but it sure would be nice to see the USS Constitution. After all the work done on her over the years I wonder how much is still original? The enemy probably s**t themselves when they saw cannonballs bounce off the side. The closest I ever came to Old Ironsides was serving in the army's 1st Armored Division that was nicknamed after it.

Every 3 years the Tall Ship Celebration comes to Bay City, MI. They sail up the river and dock on both sides, not in the middle of nowhere, but downtown. The only time I ever saw them was in 2003. Most of them were replicas or modern ships without a very interesting history. The most famous one had to be the Bounty, built in 1960 for the 1962 movie, Mutiny on the Bounty. It sank during Hurricane Sandy in 2012. I looked at my pictures which aren't very good and these were the ships I got pictures of. Europa, built in 1911, is still sailing and went all the way around the world in 2013-2014. I keep trying to fix the first 2 links but can't, so when it says do you mean...?, just click on it and it goes there.
