I have one, and really enjoy it.  I put it in the category of a 10/22 in lever action.  Accurate enough for plinking, bunnies, squirrels, etc..  It runs everything I have tried in it, from the cheapest to the best.  And, it has never jammed.

I wanted one for several years before I picked it up, and only wish I had done it earlier.

ENJOY!!!

I've had my eye on that rifle for a while.  They were on sale at work during the black Friday weekend and I could not justify the cost but have my regrets.  I'm looking at the Frontier style with the Skinner peep sights anyway, carbine...  Tree rats, bunnies and such...

Congrats!

They are quite common in .22 side matches at the Cowboy action matches. There is a guy that does an action job on them called the "Henry soft stroke" which makes the action even easier to work.

I've only heard good things about them. Congrats. The new Garden Gun smoothbore .22 LR shotgun almost made me wish I had a garden (someplace my neighbors weren't up my @$$) just so I would have an excuse to buy it and shoot it. Now something else has caught my eye, a NON-NFA lever action .410 they call the Axe. It's a firearm in the Shockwave class with a 5-round mag, but the MSRP is $970.

https://www.henryusa.com/news/lever-action-axe-410/

I'd much rather have the 12 gauge Remington V3 TAC-13 which has an MSRP of $915. I'll take a 6 round 12 gauge semi-auto over a 6 round .410 bore lever-action, which would mostly just be a toy. Well, they would both be used that way, but the V3 TAC-13 may be my next home defense gun in a few years. It's nearly 13" shorter than my 7 round Remington 1100(-ish) 12 gauge with a barrel length of just under 19". It's a much handier size with 6" less barrel poking out. The way the Versaport gas system works is really cool. 3" shells cover some of the gas ports in the chamber, while 2.75" shells leave them all uncovered. It's self-regulating based on shell length and works with anything from 2.75" target loads to 3" magnums.

I didn't mean to hijack the thread, it just happened. :-[ All the Henry rifles seem to be good. If the forum is still here, let us know how it runs.

The Axe looks fun but it's a no freakin' way for me. The all weather .357 is a lot more useful. The same goes for the .44 Mag. and .45 Colt. I believe .357 would have the biggest percentage gain in velocity and energy in the 20" barrel. If you already have a companion revolver in .357 it makes caliber choice a no-brainier. You could use it for deer hunting or whatever, and practice with the .22 the rest of the year. Shoot as many tree rats as you want to. There will always be more.

The Axe looks a lot cooler.  For me, though they'd be fun, they don't have a lot of utility.  I don't know anyone who doesn't like the look of cut down levers and they are cool...just not really practical.

I couldn't have said that any better.
