At this time in history, where are we?

Are we living a heightened level of alertness and preparedness to protect our family and homes?
Are we prepared and defending our neighborhoods?
Are we gathering and traveling to defend areas of unrest?

I have been living in Phase One of these three, however am shifting to Phase Two.  Things haven't changed much around home, but things are happening with work.

A carrier coming to our facility on Sunday evening

Driver arrived early and according to night dispatch driver was threatened by armed protesters. Driver then took the load to carriers secured lot in Bolingbrook, IL.  Carrier is looking to recover in the morning when it’s safer. Carrier contacting receiver.

As we asked for more details we received the following

“29185 was at 51st Street and Kedzie in Chicago when someone in a group of people pulled a gun on him and pointed it directly at him. He ran a red light to get away before anyone could get closer and drove off (without hitting anyone or anything he confirms). He is now understandably refusing to deliver this load. He's going to a truck stop in Bolingbrook, IL to wait for someone else.”

Then this morning I received a call from one of our over the road drivers.  He leaves out on Monday morning and runs Minnesota, mostly the Twin Cities, for three days.  While sleeping in a parking lot in front of a store in Crystal, he woke up to the cab shaking.  When he turned on the light and looked out, he saw a person leaning on the fender.  The person went to a car that was parked facing him and climbed in.  Through the next couple hours they stayed and would start the car, turn on their headlights, shining them in the cab, and rev the engine.  While finishing his delivery this morning he told the butcher about it, and was told that that is what these gangs do.  They will shake the truck to see if anyone is in them.  If there is no one in the truck, they empty the load.

I have been a member of the Everyday Carry Club for many years, but I have upped the game as of last night.  The Benelli is in the car bag.  This is an M1 with 8 round tube - I set this one up for 3 gun.  I don't live in Cook County, but the company is located in Chicago, just NE of Midway Airport, so I must play by Cook County and Chicago rules.  I have upped my carry magazine count, I replaced batteries in the flashlight, and something I have been very poor at, I sharpened the carry knife*.

* If you want to know if your knife is ready for an altercation, give it the Janich test:  Next time you are going to prepare a roast, beef or pork, wrap it in plastic wrap, and slip it in the leg of an old pair of jeans.  Do a fast draw, deploy, slash and stab.  You may be amazed at the results.

First thing is get control of the fire power, infiltrate police and intelligence services.
