Why Is This Place My Favorite>
« on: August 29, 2020, 07:07:13 AM »
Over the years, more than I sometimes realize, I have been on and off several forums, but this is my mostest favoritest!

Why do I like this place over others?  Look at the following post from a hunting group on the book of faces.  This man sums up much of what is wrong in our society and how it is either reveled, bred or furthered, or all three, by social media.

I know what some of you will say so just save your breath. I've decided to leave this site which is one of my favorites. I posted a trailcam pic of a one antlered buck. They're were some things in the pic that looked a little off so I just asked if anyone else saw what I saw and their opinion. It started out as a great discussion with people stating opinions on both sides. Then it devolved into name calling and putting me and others down because we were stupid enough to ask a question. Why? Can't we just enjoy exchanging thoughts and ideas anymore without name calling and putting people down? It's what's wrong with this country. Ok. Rants over. I know I should have just shut up and left because many of you think I'm whining and you had to waste your time reading this but I said what I felt needed to be said.

This little playground we have here doesn't get nasty.  We cuss and discuss, but we also respect.  Thank you to each of you that play here, and to Michael for continuing to put up with his adopted rug rats.

The Law of Averages says anything that can happen will happen--at some point.

So, as it happens, this forum has become the singular place for amazingly intelligent, extremely witty, tremendously nice people who also like guns.   ;)

At least that's how I see it. ;D

Only Gun site with out the ass holes who's only experience with guns is Battlefield 1. I've had dipshits argue with me because they knew better about guns i used to TEACH about from their video games.

It's a place that's both tame and wild at the same time.   Respectful without management interference.   Part of it's a rather wide diversity of interests, hobbies and experiences.

I'm a member number of boards but find none better than this.

The High Road is a little on the strict side as far as topics and responses go, where as many of the other general topic boards can get a little nasty.  Possible too many Monday Morning Quarterbacks with emperor complexes

All the boards about one make of gun (S&W, Colt, Glock etc) and single interest boards (SASS, Precision Shooting, Accurate Reloading, etc)  get boring after a while because they're single topics.   Great place to go and look up information or get answers about those items.   I have a friend who runs a large S&W Facebook group, but I can only look at so many pictures of S&W Revolvers regardless of how many shares of stock I own.

One very interesting forum, I really like and should spend more time there, is Accurate Reloading.   http://forums.accuratereloading.com/eve
It's truly an international board, covering many topics besides reloading.   I posted a question about chronographs there once and Ken Ohler was who responded.  It's has an amazing and overwhelming reach.

Thoughts...

I'm a pretty decent guy, lived hard, partied much, loved a few, married the "ONE" and have hundreds of friends who don't live anywhere near me.  I'm not one to take friendship lightly, in fact, I've been known to do more for people I've just met than for acquaintances who've known me for a while, simply because of my ability to filter through the bullshit of daily life.  Not that I'm judgmental but rather, that I'm a good judge of character.

I've known men and women for decades whom I haven't talked to in years and can take up a conversation with them as if we just discussed it yesterday.  Anyone who's spent time in the military or in some desolate or remote place can relate to that as we humans rely on each other whether we admit to it or not.  You have become part of that community that I can say anything, anytime on any topic and be understood!

I've found a place, though my wife thinks you're all probably crazy loons like me, that I can call my comfort zone, a place where my thoughts, though extreme in some respect, can be taken in context and not judged by any societal boundaries.  My happy place and your happy place coexist in this forum.  We may bicker and sling a bit of poo-poo, but we always seem to come to the center of our universe which, I believe, is to put others needs above the needs of ourselves, to put the countries best interest in line with our own existence.

Family, Friends, Countrymen, Brethren.....thanks for being what and who you are

Very little drama. Very few call of duty experts. Vast knowledge. More of a Clint Smith vibe.

Just don't say CLIP, and all will be fine.

Looking around nervously for Hazcat.
