Re: Sunrise FL
Seemed like good agents trying to make a difference. I would like to know more about the tactics involved. 6am, in the dark? Any local LEOs with them? US Marshalls? Don't they normally serve federal warrants? Vests?
I believe that as well, Alf.
I think the agents actually doing work are there for the right reasons, but as I mentioned above the higher-ups screw the pooch by hamstringing the decision making.
It has always been my understanding that feds have to clear operations with (at a minimum) the high sheriff of a county. I imagine in certain jurisdictions there is a good bit of posturing and pissing contests going on also....which hampers the guys trying to get good things done.
Also we have to remember (and this is from a credible source) that in the particular area of sex trafficking and child pornography these predators are harder to catch and tip-offs from insiders is a threat so different tactics are sometimes used.
As of late, child trafficking, child exploitation and similar crimes are a primary caseload for a good portion of the FBI. I know they conducted several multi-state sting operations that resulted in hundreds of arrests and the recovery of a good many missing persons. One of the latest stings was directed at a large child abduction and trafficking ring based out of central Georgia.
