Free lead... Sacramento area.

I've got about 20 lbs or so of Lead, that was removed from  drain fitings installed in the teens.  I have no idea what its make up is. 


Save me a trip to the scrap yard.

Is bullet casting legal there? I thought it was banned in The Soviet State of Kalifornia. I used to give my scrap lead to some guys at work who cast bullets. I think they would kill for 20 pounds of lead. They would fight over a single wheel weight if they weren't such good friends.  :)  I don't work there anymore, but I found out this summer that one of my neighbors casts small cannonballs from lead so he gets my scraps. Too bad it's a 4,600 mile round trip to get yours.

Unless there is a local code, then yes its perfectly legal.  I have never done it, I don't shoot lead bullets.... I'm exposed to enough heavy metals at work... I don' need to be exposed to more.

With CAs current scrap laws, its not worth my time unless I'm going to get a grand...  I mean do you really want to get 1099ed for $30.  Giving up finger prints, proving its mine... its just not worth it.  Hell it would cost me that in gas to drive the work truck there.

Let's send a note to Hazcat.  Maybe he could get it picked up and bounce it all over the nation dividing it up between those that would like some of it.  I mean ... it's free isn't it ... what's a few thousand in shipping costs?

Twenty pounds?  I've started new hobbies with less resources than that. 

Are there any SASS clubs in your area?  A note to one of those groups would get rid of it quickly I'd bet.
