Watching The Olympics
« on: August 01, 2021, 05:39:35 PM »
Are you watching the Olympics?

I have watched Men's Golf the last few days, and it was a good match.

Beyond that, I have little interest.  I have tried to find the Shooting Sports, but they are aired once per match, and it is in the middle of the night - No replays.  Someone, somewhere on the net, explained to me it was because there are no ratings for the Shooting Sports.  Yet, Shooting Sports have yielded the second most medals for our nation as all others:  Swimming 1/2 of the medal count (30 of 59) and Shooting Sports one 10th (6 of 59).

Why don't people pay attention to certain events?  Could it be because the media ignores them?  Every morning on the way to work, and other times in the car, I hear about the great accomplishments of our Olympic athletes, but I have yet to hear of any of the shooting athletes accomplishments.  Even with world records set, silence.

The fact is that it is the media that does not want to show the Shooting Sports, not that people would not watch.
If I appear taller than other men it is because I am standing on the shoulders of others.

The olympics?  Is it that time again?

Gee, I missed the last two or so....

I haven't watched a minute of it, and I don't intend to. This train wreck is the Oscars on steroids.

"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

I saw the Women's Wrestling Gold Medal match.  Our gal, Tamyra Mensah-Stock, is a 149 pounder from Katy, Texas.  She took the Gold and wore American Flag earrings to the ceremony.  She thanked God, praised America, and said she couldn't wait to get back to her husband.  Such a refreshing difference from the "Ladies" on our soccer team.

And she really kicked butt in the final match.

“I’ve lived the literal meaning of the ‘land of the free’ and ‘home of the brave.’ It’s not corny for me. I feel it in my heart. I feel it in my chest. Even at a ball game, when someone talks during the anthem or doesn’t take off his hat, it pisses me off. I’m not one to be quiet about it, either.”  Chris Kyle
