More British Nanny-state silliness.
« on: September 20, 2008, 07:29:03 AM »
I just don't know what to say.  Here's the quote that caught my eye, and then a link to the article.

"The 55-second video - said to have been taken in High Wycombe, Bucks - was spotted after YouTube vowed to ban videos featuring weapons.

The Google-owned site introduced the ban for the UK only amid widespread unease about gang violence on Britain's streets."

Ichiban,

The notion promoted by the youtube ban that not show videos of gun activity will make 'gun violence' decrease is nanny state foolishness.  But the idiot flashing and pointing the AK needs a good ass whoppin'.

They probably banned such videos, because on a Macro level it will cause people to buy into the notion that "all guns are evil" , and that "the guns are the problem"..... The less they see guns, the less desensitized they become to guns..... then when they do see one (I.E. on the news in the hands of a criminal), they become hysterical and equate guns as being the problem.

In my opinion, it is a very Hitler-like thing to do, and just a means to furthering their anti-gun agenda.

Nanny-State indeed!

;) If that had happened here in Texas, oncoming traffic would have shot back. It never ceases to amaze me that a country where guns are illegal has so much gun violence (look at the headlines below the story).

After they got most of their guns taken away, the government nearly outlwed beer mugs because people in bar fights were using them as "deadly assault weapons".  ::)
""It may be laid down as a primary position, and the basis of our system, that every Citizen who enjoys the protection of a free Government, owes not only a proportion of his property, but even his personal services to the defence of it, and consequently that the Citizens of America (with a few legal and official exceptions) from 18 to 50 Years of Age should be borne on the Militia Rolls, provided with uniform Arms, and so far accustomed to the use of them, that the Total strength of the Country might be called forth at a Short Notice on any very interesting Emergency." - George Washington. Letter to Alexander Hamilton, Friday, May 02, 1783

Why waste a bullet when you have an "Assault Weapon" at hand doing 45 mph? I'd just make a speed bump of the moron.
Anti: I think some of you gentleman would choose to apply a gun shaped remedy to any problem or potential problem that presented itself? Your reverance (sic) for firearms is maintained with an almost religious zeal. The mind boggles! it really does...

Me: Naw, we just apply a gun-shaped remedy to those extreme life threatening situations that call for it. All the less urgent problems we're willing to discuss.
