What's The Best Way To Fix This ??
« on: October 11, 2021, 04:06:41 PM »
I had this happen on a couple of electrical boxes around my house. (One is a switch for a fountain, and the other is for 12 volt lighting). They are both identical. The mounting screws have pulled out of the stucco. I was thinking about the only option, without making a big deal out of it, would be to squirt some construction adhesive into the hole, and around the screw threads, and allow it to set up. What type and brand of adhesive would you guys recommend for something like this? I would prefer something quick drying, and it doesn't have to be that strong. Just be able to hold it in place.

I'm all ears if someone has a better idea. Where I live it never gets below freezing. And I won't ever be removing these. Thanks in advance.

Proper stucco anchors one size larger. Or get some silicone, fill the holes, "screw" the anchors back into that.

Don't use construction adhesive.

Small wood dowels like oversized toothpicks and the silcone to fill the holes.  The toothpicks/dowels will provide a surface for the anchors to screw on and the silicone will seal the deal.

No need for the dowels, the silicone will work.

Fast drying isn't necessary, just wedge a 2x4 against it.  Use weights if necessary.

Will work for ammo

Masking tape would work as well.  Just avoid duct tape as it can remove the color coat/ paint from the stucco.

The dowels will help to pull it up tight.

You thinking like a wedge in an axe handle ?
Might just crush the stucco worse.

no, it will just be something to rot.  Remember stucco is not water proof.  It has tons of pores.   Thats why it has weep holes at the bottom.   The wood will be glued it by the silicone, so would the plastic anchors that are there.  The difference is one is plastic.
