take off Ruger MK IV uppers

Volquartsen has Ruger MK IV take off barreled uppers for sale on their clearance web site at what I think are good prices... unfortunately they are serial numbered and required shipping and transfer at an FFL which adds cost... ordered a 5.5" bull for Steel Challenge Irons division.... if you order a fiber optic front sight there are two heights from most manufacturers... make sure you order the correct sight for the difference in bull vs. lite (with shroud) diameters....Les

follow up... shot my first match with the fixed sight MKIV, and I have some "learnin" to do... for 25+ years I shot black front post fixed sighted pistols, but with declining eyesight opted for dot scopes when I started in Steel Challenge... now with cataract surgery and good vision again, I am now tending back to fixed sighted rim fires, but with the change to fiber optic front sights... herein is my new learning curve... for all the years I shot the top of the front sight, but now with the dot placed lower on the post, need to get the dot on target... Friday on the 5 to Go stage, I was still trying to hold the top, and the way I had sighted the pistol in (dot) caused my shots to go low...got most of my act together by the end of the match...still good fun... the MKIV is now just a plain Jane pistol, but I think it will get most of the use from now on... it won't produce the fastest times , but probably provide more satisfaction... regards Les

I did the RFPI a couple months ago.  This Sunday I'm doing the RFPO.  My goal is to get classified, and a badge, in all division.

I've used FOs for most of my guns that it's old hat.  I tend to sight them in at the bottom of an 8" target at 25yds.  That way the top of the front sight is basically centered.  In the event the FO becomes blacked out I'm still good to go.

Just got the LPA fiber rear sights for 2 of my revolvers.    Oh wow.  Though I haven't used them yet in competition, I think have both front and rear FO for ICORE and USPSA Revo will make a big difference.

Will work for ammo
