I need opinions on the PTR91
« on: November 26, 2022, 01:24:18 AM »
Guys I’ve had my eye on a ptr91 for now for a couple of weeks. Just need some opinions from owners or shooters that have first hand knowledge on the platform.

I own one and it shoots fine. Recoil is as expected BUT be warned that they had some quality issues years ago. It was hit-and-miss. Some came out of the factory fine (like mine) but others, not so much. I have not kept up with the company but I did hear that quality had come up a few years ago. I love mine but I am not current on new PRT91s.
The time for action is upon us and the enemy is at our gates. Let us not allow them one more inch of advancement but instead throw them through the gates of Hell.

Just for grins and giggles, what's driving your PTR-91 choice?

I’ve always wanted a G3 battle rifle and I like something nerd cool. Not to mention I’ve got 12 ctme mags collecting dust. Lastly I’ve got tons of surplus 7.62 x 51

Yes I did, but I’ve had to send it back twice for repairs. The bolt developed a crack around the rollers and it jammed up real good. So far customer service has been good. I’m waiting on a replacement or a refund

Poor heat treatment and horrible QC. I couldn’t believe that 311 rounds could break it. Complete waste of time

That's really disappointing.  I remember salivating over the H&K's back when and never buying one.  Then I kinda got over it reading the reviews of the H&K over time it just did not fit what I needed.  I ended up with an FAL (don't ever take one to training class...that will be the day you have failure drills) which has since been replaced by a PSA AR-10 variant.

The PTR is supposed to stand for precision target rifle...other than breaking does it group well?  Keep us posted on how this ends up.

When it did function it rang the gong at 200 regularly. I’m getting a refund. Not waiting another 3 weeks for a replacement to be sent. Ammo is expensive and a 500 round breaking in period is 💩
