Happy National App Day, December 11th. #AppDay #NationalAppDay
Go download an app and think about how apps make life easier. Or more difficult. It's a matter of perspective.
Yesterday instead of my computer waking up immediately, I had to fiddle with it for what seemed like an hour just to get it to boot up, and to restart it. When it restarted there was nothing on the taskbar, not even the clock, so I restarted it again and kept tapping F12 to get the boot menu to come up. I ran Dell SupportAssist Startup Repair, then scanned for any bad hardware, then did a system restore to the only saved restore point. That seemed to take an interminable amount of time. All in all, I think it took me about 2 hours to get from a sleeping computer, to one that was awake and functioning. It should have only taken a few seconds and my sign-in. I wonder if anyone makes an app for this s***?
My desktop and laptop both like to use 100% Disk and 100% CPU, along with most of the memory, running crap I don't want them too. It happens at startup and when I'm streaming videos too. I think my desktop was running a Malwarebytes scan at the time I had it programmed to, and there's no way to stop it other than holding the power button in until the PC shuts off, and hoping it doesn't take months to get everything back to normal again. But my laptop was running Windows Features Experience Pack and I couldn't stop it in Task Manager. no matter how many time I tried to end it. I already removed the Widgets that were hogging resources and driving disk usage up to 100%, but the Windows Features Experience Pack it comes in is still lurking in there, and I need to get it out like I did my desktop. Malwarebytes normally takes about 18 minutes to scan my whole computer while I'm using it, and most of the time I don't even know it's running. But I still think that's one of the things that caused the problem. Also, I shut off a different program that was running at start that didn't need to. That helped lock everything up, I think it was on my laptop. Anyway...
Happy National App Day, Everyone!
