Asoka and Star Wars Discovery
« on: October 20, 2023, 03:43:40 PM »
Watching some of the streaming stuff.  Asoka, basically what happened to the Jedi, was cool until they jumped the shark with Teenage Mutant Ninja Trolls, but then they added Space Whales that could travel through worm holes.   I like the acting and effects, just stretched the practical with those two things.  BUT most importantly is Asoka's dedication to iron sights.  Just look at the logo and tell me you don't see it.

Then the Star Trek Discovery which just goes back and forth from multiple realities to multiple time lines.  Enjoying some of the plot and story lines.  It is after all Star Trek.

Keep in mind Star Wars happened A Long Time Ago....   While Star Trek is future.

It looks like a peep sight and a bead, but could be some kind of astrological symbol, not that I would recognize most when I saw them. I have William's peep sights and brass beads on a couple of guns, so that's what I see in my mind when I look at the logo.

I see and have heard nothing positive about Asohka, the acting is wooden, "cardboard cutout" was the specific phrase. Kathleen Kennedy's (producer) whole "the force is feminine" thing was rampant, lots of implied lesbian stuff (women wistfully staring at each other with faint smiles), etc.

The only decent character was played by Stevenson (Titus Pullo in the Rome series for those who forget), and sadly he's passed away.

And then there are the SPACE WHALES!!!!!! What kind of idiot thought that one up? I actually know, it was the director.

Glad you enjoyed it, Alf, but it was DOA for me. Just a perversion of the Star Wars of George Lucas.

Actually, one nice point. The whole current series was about women searching for magic balls. That was funny.

Hey, Dr. Who, David Tennant, playing a robot.  Got to love it, especially when Ahsoka ask Huyang, the robot, to tell her a story.  He says he knows several and starts, "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away."

That's actually part of the problem, Alf, a total lack of originality and bringing back things/characters from the original series, like Anakin. It's intent is to create "warm fuzzies" in place of good writing. Or acting. Or directorship. Or . . . .

Maybe stop supporting Disney? They hate you but love your money.
