NRA Annual Meeting - May 2024
« on: January 14, 2024, 08:42:12 AM »
Who is planning to be in Dallas for the Annual Meeting May 17-19?

I anticipate that as the Board is working through many issues these days, as the legal team sorts what can be shared publicly and what must wait, and as the courts sort what was Wayne and his team and what was the organization, the Annual Meeting will be information filled and lively.  The next 17 months will be crucial to the future of the organization as our current structure, our history and our future are all reevaluated, and as we look at how we let someone gain so much unchecked power, openly, without stepping up to stop him.

Now, more than ever, we need to pay attention to who is on the Board, and that we express our wishes whenever possible.

Me.  I've contacted them to make sure I have the right credentials to get in and to vote.

How about Marshal Halloway? With a few family health issues it most likely won't be in my summer plans. I still hope to get there while there is still a chance to share drinks with Michael.

It depends on all my other duties this year. It's on my calendar as pending as of now.

That board needs to be trimmed down to a manageable number.  76 (that's the number Tom Gresham quoted) board members are 60-65 too many.

Maybe Benny (M25Operator) can swing by?

Anyone else from the Dallas/Ft.Worth area on the board here?

They also need to put a focus on qualifications. Looking at the lists year after year I feel that members are nominated based on celebrity and philanthropy. True ability to lead the organization has been left to a select few employees, and most board members either don't care or don't know how to stop it. We even watched a few that cared resign due to the frustration. We can't let the good be labeled as trouble makers and pushed to leave anymore.

With an M25 Sniper Weapon System. I almost gagged on my water as I read that.  ;D
""It may be laid down as a primary position, and the basis of our system, that every Citizen who enjoys the protection of a free Government, owes not only a proportion of his property, but even his personal services to the defence of it, and consequently that the Citizens of America (with a few legal and official exceptions) from 18 to 50 Years of Age should be borne on the Militia Rolls, provided with uniform Arms, and so far accustomed to the use of them, that the Total strength of the Country might be called forth at a Short Notice on any very interesting Emergency." - George Washington.
