SKS or AR-15
« on: September 27, 2008, 02:45:26 AM »
I know basic info on both and have owned a Norinco SKS in the past. My main question has to do with future ammo availability. Can anyone help me with future plans to eliminate or restrict these two rounds if BHO were able to eek himself in? I know 7.62x39 is cheaper than .223 right now but will it be available in the future? Any help is appreciated.

Well, it's anybody's guess as to what would happen. Why take the chance, do NOT vote for b-ho.

One thing is true, the libs will keep looking for a way to prevent us from having guns, using guns or having anything to do with guns. It might be an ammo ban, or mandatory micro-stamping  (which of course doesn't exist, so no ammo of any kind) or a public health crisis over "gun" violence or as a recent thread here said form a gummint bureaucracy over guns (and what the heck do they think the BATFE is???) that will legislate the manufacturers into oblivion.

Tick, tock, the clock is ticking to the election, we have to stop b-ho from being President or you can kiss this entire country - not just guns - away.

7.62x39mm is up a bunch.  The only great value now is 5.45x39mm.

As long as the military is buying 5.56, ammo for an AR is going to be at a premium. 7.62x39 is more expensive than 5.45x39, but it is cheaper than AR ammo, and will be for the forseeible future. With the proliferration of SKS and AK rifles in the US, 7.62x39 will always be available in the US ( untill outlawed by liberals ).

For what you would pay for an AR you can buy an SKS and a couple cases of ammo to stash away.

For me, The World's Most Versatile Rifle http://www.outdoorlife.com/article.jsp?ID=21010945 and maybe an SKS or AK later.

I'm sure you can still find a used AR or SKS for a better price, however, the DPMS Sportical is a huge value in the entry level AR market.  I admit, I have no experience with the Sportical model, but DPMS does make a fine and reliable rifle that leaves a little money in the bank for the previously mentioned ammo cache.

I'm not buying anything with an extruded upper. Nothing but forgings for me. But it's a bargain for people who aren't pejudiced.
