Any one ever 3d printed a holster?


I am thinking about designing one for a colt detective to fit in my trucks door pocket.  I am debating if it worth doing the design work to model the gun or just buy a cheap kydex holster and design something to hold it that will fit in the pocket and keep it in place.

Depends on your expertise with modeling.  Other than “blocky” shapes it’s beyond me or my software to do something like that with any precision.  Looking at some of the newer AI controlled 3D programs, it’s probably
 a piece of cake for the advanced modeler. 

I’d go with a OTC Kydex and modify the way it attaches

With the number of inexpensive kydex holsters that have adjustable and/or changeable attachments features I would go with kydex. Visualizing something, I picture a paddle holster with the paddle being the attachment point to your door pocket.

I'm looking at doing the same thing for my Glock.
Right now my best option based on my door panel is taking a kydex belt slide and removing the belt loops....then using the screw holes to attach it to the door as a permanent thing.
If done properly with black screw heads, the holster will fit inside the pocket and the only thing on the outside of the panel will be the black screw heads....and they should blend in.

There are a ton of relatively inexpensive apps and or 3dscanners that I could use to model the gun. I mean the idea of having my gun on my left side is not the best but I think it would be a good solution to keep one always in the truck. My windows are tinted dark enough and it's low enough down in the door panel it would be virtually impossible to see
