Here's my Schrade Reckon Assisted Opening Folder after I ground the tip off. It was too hard to file flat after grinding, so I used a large whetstone to smooth it out. Followed by a minute with badly worn paper on a 1/4 sheet sander. Then I used instant gun blue paste on it and oiled it. The blade is now 2 15/16" long, instead of 3.25", and legal in Flint Twp. If anything, it seems to flip open even better now, with the slightly lighter blade, and it seems to be a bit more pointed. I "clipped" the drop point slightly. Instead of grinding the edge up to meet the back of the blade, I ground the back down to meet the edge, after I ground the tip off. That makes much less work for me. I
Reckon that's good enough for government work.

I put masking tape on it and marked it with a pen or pencil as usual, before I started grinding. I dunked it in water after brief amounts of time on the wheel, so as not to get it too hot and take the temper out. I have about a one gallon plastic pail from hydraulic cement or something, with water in it next to the grinder.
