Here's my Schrade Reckon Assisted Opening Folder after I ground the tip off. It was too hard to file flat after grinding, so I used a large whetstone to smooth it out. Followed by a minute with badly worn paper on a 1/4 sheet sander. Then I used instant gun blue paste on it and oiled it. The blade is now 2 15/16" long, instead of 3.25", and legal in Flint Twp. If anything, it seems to flip open even better now, with the slightly lighter blade, and it seems to be a bit more pointed. I "clipped" the drop point slightly. Instead of grinding the edge up to meet the back of the blade, I ground the back down to meet the edge, after I ground the tip off. That makes much less work for me. I Reckon that's good enough for government work. ;) I put masking tape on it and marked it with a pen or pencil as usual, before I started grinding. I dunked it in water after brief amounts of time on the wheel, so as not to get it too hot and take the temper out. I have about a one gallon plastic pail from hydraulic cement or something, with water in it next to the grinder.

How the shape of the tip compares, after modification, and before.

I got more Schrade knives Monday. FedEx texted and said my delivery date was changed to last Thursday. Then, on Friday they said "6:07 AM  On FedEx vehicle for delivery". It said the same thing all day Friday and Saturday, and I think it still said it was on the truck for delivery on Sunday. Then it said it would be delivered Monday, and it finally was, just before noon. I got 5 items: an Adder Fixed Blade, Boneyard CLR Fixed Blade, Outback Folder, Wolverine Mini Fixed Blade, and Alkemyst Trainer. The trainer is so I can practice flipping it open and closed, without cutting myself on my American-made Alkemyst Balisong. It has the same weight and feel of the real Alkemyst knife with a nice, safe, bottle opener blade.

The Wolverine is my favorite of the bunch. The adder isn't too far behind. The Boneyard CLR is hard to draw from the sheath and even harder to put back in. It just wants to jam, and I have to stick it in from a different angle. The Outback is hard to flip open but may be okay after I work some BLADE oil into it. I got it on sale at Devil Dog Concepts. Now, they're having a flash sale with some stuff 75% off, December 16-18.

Nothing on the market cuts friction and protects metal on your knives and axes like BLADE.

Our SUPER-ADVANCED GREEN chemistry enhances & strengthens metal.

BLADE creates an ultra-slick, low stick surface by effectively turning the exposed metal from microscopic “sandpaper” into “glass” and reducing friction up to 90% (that is a magnitude of difference).

This unique formula is long lasting and will OPTIMIZE the performance of your fixed knives, folding knives, axe heads, scissors, electric shearers, and other cutting tools.

Invest in BLADE and literally “feel the difference.”

I got my younger son a new skinning knife. He has a deer processing operation going and has used the CRKT skinner with a gut hook for years. He mentioned getting a second one but these are out of production for years. He likes Kershaw knives so I ordered him one of theirs from Knivesshipfree.com.

I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

That's a good looking knife, and I like the Kershaw knives I have. None of them have done any hard work yet, but they look like good quality tools.
