The local coverage has been weird. NBC affiliate, 11Alive, did three hours of live coverage that night, but since it was already over 99% of what they said was either obvious or speculation. They given a lot of coverage to the fallen officer which is good. No one else was shot, btw.
Things of interest.
No mention of the shooters car which was obvious in many pictures parked along side the CVS. All the doors, trunk and hood were open as it appeared to have been “cleared” by the police. If it wasn’t the shooters then whose was it and how did the shooter get there?
That whole area was re-plated, or is that zoned, from Dekalb County into the City of Atlanta recently. Mostly for prestige and PR purposes. Deklalb didn’t object because the CDC and Emory don’t pay property taxes and are a financial drain. Why was a Dekalb officer first on the scene and not APD? Just bad luck?
Over 500 shell casings were recovered, wow. Less than 200 rounds impacted the CDC buildings 100 to 200 yds away but a very large and tall target. Where did the other rounds land?
To the credit of not jumping to conclusions, the local media has not blamed an AR, yet. The shooter stole at least one rifle, one pistol and one shotgun from his father. The father was quickly exonerated from any wrong doing as he had the guns in some sort of locked storage. And when the father discovered the theft he phoned 911 to warned them that his son might be up to something like this.
So many loose ends and the media seems to be content to wait until the FBI, GBI, APD and others release info. Good they’re not jumping to conclusions, but they also don’t seem to be very curious which I find odd.
Of course the gun controls orgs are jumping all over it.
There are some who blame those who have criticized the CDC. I ask whether they are implying we shouldn’t critize anybody for fear some luny will attack them. I ask them whether they have criticized, Trump, Republicans or MAGA and isn’t that the same thing.
BTB, if you’ve never heard of the Tuskegee Syphilis experiment you should search for it and read about a not-so-sterling moment in the CDC, AMA and NMA.
Sorry for rambling.
