FN REBATE - Warning
« on: October 20, 2025, 02:21:38 PM »
Been waiting 5 weeks for my FN rebate.

Positive: Sent an email on Sunday afternnoon and by early the next morning I had a reply.
Posiitve:  The rebate was approved 3 weeks ago and the digital debt card has waiting on me.
Negative:  The email with the rebate card info was NOT from FN.

The third party handling the rebates send emails from:  Powertex support@card-support.com
So BOLO that.

See, I don't have a spam folder.  Everything comes to my inbox.  I set up a rule in GMail that forces everything to my inbox, so I don't have to go looking for things like this.  BUT, as I'm powering through my inbox, Powertex means nothing to me, so I deleted it.

Just thought you'd like to know.

That's good to know. I'm still considering trading one or 2 of my Paras in for an FN 509. The Midsize and Midsize MRD have 4" barrels like the regular 509, but with 15-round mags. And they're compatible with 17-round and 24-round magazines mag sleeves. If I ever need more than 25 rounds of .45 ACP 9mm, I really need a rifle.

I have a spam filter set up to block all gmail addresses, because I've gotten hundreds (if not thousands) of spam and phishing emails from gmail accounts. It doesn't work, but if anyone sent me mail from gmail and I never responded, that's why.

ETA: ^ Oops! I was looking at both the FN 545 and an FN 509. I'm still having a hard time deciding which 9mm to get if I do get one, but the 509 Midsize is one of the contenders, especially the optics ready MRD. The 545 is a full 6" tall, and I can't stuff an additional 6" in my pants. ;)  Maybe 5.2" would be small enough for CCW. The 1/10" difference in width between the 9mm and .45 isn't as much of a concern as the height and weight. Still, I think I'll do a trade for a 9mm, but it probably be in 2 years. I have other things to concern myself with for a year.

That's why I got the FN 509 Midsize.  Small enough to meet IDPA CCP specs, but not that much smaller than the full size.  Duh that's why they named it.

Other than the unexpected sending email address.  FN came through promptly.
Only other problem is the debit card is based out of a company in UAE and some companies won't take it.  It's VISA backed for goodness sake.  I just rolled it over into one of my financial accounts and am done with it.  Easy peasy.

Other than running a classifier with 509, to stay current, I probably won't shoot it often unless there's a non-revolver match that really interests me.

Good deal.  I'm glad to know that they took care of you.  I got one of those weird debit cards for a defective air conditioner....I put it up on Amazon and drained it that-a-way.

I have $3.68 left on a debit card from Xfinity. That small amount is kind of hard to spend. I may be ale to add it to my PayPal account and combine it with another method it to cover a purchase.  Or use my Amazon Card points to cover all but that amount of a purchase. I forgot to do that when I placed an Amazon order recently.
