Like a jar lid opener for old people, except this slides of the fitting on garden hoses and helps you get a better grip.

Good guess, but incorrect.

I had to slide the rubber grip on my garden hose down a little over the leak in the fitting so I don't get sprayed. It's a good thing that one hose had the rubber grip.
