Now I'm wondering how good a 10mm PCC with frangible ammo would be as a defensive weapon? Darned good, I imagine. And you wouldn't have to worry about ricochets.
""It may be laid down as a primary position, and the basis of our system, that every Citizen who enjoys the protection of a free Government, owes not only a proportion of his property, but even his personal services to the defence of it, and consequently that the Citizens of America (with a few legal and official exceptions) from 18 to 50 Years of Age should be borne on the Militia Rolls, provided with uniform Arms, and so far accustomed to the use of them, that the Total strength of the Country might be called forth at a Short Notice on any very interesting Emergency." - George Washington. The reason for getting into frangible was for Steel Challenge, primarily for my SW 929 revolver, but also for the PCC 9mm.

My first loading, 95gr flat nose bullet with 3.0gr of TiteGroup.  I tested the Glock 17 and FN 509 just 'cause.

G17     -  1078fps   102power factor
FN 509 - 1095fps    104pf

However these are lock-breech guns and the load wasn't sufficient to insure full extraction and ejection.  I would probably go to 3.2gr for reliability which would push the velocities up to 1,200 or more.

I don't have my 929 back from Clark yet, so no test in the revolver.  This load worked reliably in the Ruger PCC9 which is a blowback action, but I only tested 20 rounds.  Not sure I'd stay with 3.0gr until I actually test a couple hundred rounds but the velocity was:

Ruger PCC 9  - 1116fps   106pf

Since these are for Steel Challenge there isn't any minimum requirements so loading for reliability and grouping.  The later I haven't tested yet.  The recoil is a definitely less and the cost is around 6 cents each.   And of course they produce a very nice, round distinctive mark on the plates with minimal sprawl.  No ricochet or splatter.
