I got a Personalized Laser Engraved Ammo Can from Clean Ammo Cans today. Will is a great guy to deal with, and I only buy ammo cans and .223/5.56mm Cardboard Stripper Clip Inserts from him. I copied and pasted my first name over my last name in the pic to maintain a bit of online anonymity. They have Personalized American Flag Laser Engraved .50 cal Ammo Cans too, and plain cans in grades 1, 2, and 3. The grade 1 cans are about the best surplus cans you can get anywhere. The regular .50 Cal size cans are M2A1 and M2A2 style, mostly A2. The newer M2A2 ammo can adds an additional metal support bracket to its latch assembly. This prevents the gasket from getting crushed under pressure, which in turn preserves the M2A2’s ability to seal out moisture. If you’ve got limited space and wish to stack your ammo cans in a tower formation, the M2A2 offers greater peace of mind that your ammo won’t suffer from corrosion.
This particular can has the NATO cross in circle symbol that most of you will have seen on ammo headstamps. And it once housed a 100-round belt of .50 BMG ammo, M33 ball and M17 tracers, in the usual 4 to 1 ratio of most machine guns regardless of caliber. It was linked with M9 "pull-out" style links that only work with M2 and M3 machine guns. M85 machine guns used "push-through" links, like almost every other machine gun, including the 7.62 mm M240B and 5.56 mm M249 SAW, and couldn't possible use pull-out links. There aren't many guns that pull the round backward out of the link, then push it forward to chamber the round, instead of pushing it through in a single motion. I think this is the first can I got that was printed dot-matrix style, instead of stenciled with yellow paint.
There's room enough on the first line of personalization for my first and last name, and I tried to get one made that way. But, as I found out too late, you can only have one name with no space. When I got the can, it had my middle name on it and not my first. No one read the instructions where I asked them to put my first and last name on, and to cancel my order if they couldn't, so I could buy a plain can. But I got hold of Will and explained what happened, and he replaced my can at no cost to me. I just need to get some flat green paint to go over it. I may keep part of the laser engraving uncovered, but will probably paint the whole side. You CAN get a can made with a nickname instead of your real name, as long as you have 1 word per line. Like
